I dated this guy for about a month this past spring. We met in a class and hung out a handful of times doing schoolwork together, going on walks with our dogs, and going out to eat. We kissed maybe three times.

I was looking to take things slowly and see if feelings developed, but I could tell he wanted more time and emotional intimacy than I felt ready for. I told him I probably only had bandwidth to see him once a week, and he immediately asked if we could work on school stuff together so he could see me more often. I told him I wanted to take things slow emotionally, and he told me he really liked holding hands, which wasn’t something I wanted yet.

I felt guilty for not being able to ma

For most of my life, I've been in long-term monogamous relationships. I went through a breakup around seven months ago that largely occurred because of jealousy and insecurity on my end. I’ve been in therapy and feel like I can own the parts of that breakup that were on me and acknowledge the ways my ex wasn’t willing or able to meet my needs.

Since then, I’ve begun questioning the structure of monogamy as the default. I have a lot of friends who practice polyamory and it seems healthier to me not to go into relationships with this expectation that one person should be able to meet all your needs. I want to build relationships that are centered more on trust and communication than on some a

“There are many reasons why the entire world should be vegan. Veganism is a way of living that seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practical, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing, or any other purpose. The adoption of a vegan lifestyle has the potential to benefit both individuals and the planet in numerous ways.

One of the most compelling reasons to advocate for a vegan world is the ethical argument. Many people believe that it is wrong to cause unnecessary harm to animals, and that a vegan diet is the most humane way to eat. Animal agriculture is a significant contributor to animal suffering, as billions of animals are raised and slaughtered eac

is getting involved in activism and building a really solid community of vegan friends.

I’ve been vegan for two years now and starting out, I was so angry and so sad. I still feel those feelings now, but I also feel this bright, shining beacon of hope that fills me with light and warmth and joy.

I went to two separate all-vegan Friendsgivings this year, each with 30+ people, and with only one other person who was at both events. I know at least 100 vegans in my area who are actively fighting for a vegan world in different ways—by working at farm animal sanctuaries, by doing outreach at Anonymous for the Voiceless cubes, by working on ballot initiatives and institutional changes, and more.

If you're at all interested in getting involved in activism, you should 100% register and come. I went for the first time last year and it was so powerful to be part of such a massive group pushing for animal liberation and I really felt like I found my people.

Here's a link for more info and to register: https://www.givesignup.org/Race/CA/Berkeley/AnimalLiberationConference?raceRefCode=fx3g6EQw. Feel free to message me if you want to chat about it!

I just got home from class, and saw a guy crouched down on my porch talking to my housemate. I said hi and stepped through them, and the guy said, “just giving out some free dairy samples in the neighborhood!” and my housemate told him I’m vegan.

He says, “ah, well at least this is ethically sourced dairy!” And I said, “not a thing!”

And he said, “ah, yeah, I mean I guess we still have animals.” And I said, “yeah, and baby calves this milk was made for.”

And he said, “yes, which we then house…” and I said, “yeah, until they get killed too.”

At that point I went to my room and closed the door and let my housemate finish thanking him, but UGH. Why am I being confronted with dairy at my own

There are a bunch of chalk messages on campus today advertising Birthright trips, and I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that Israel is a literal apartheid state, as defined by Amnesty International: https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/campaigns/2022/02/israels-system-of-apartheid/.

Birthright trips are free because they are an attempt to delude young people into supporting the violence and oppression Israel commits against the Palestinian people. Don't fall for their manipulations.
