Looking for advice/insight - How safe is RP around the metra stop? I see some beautiful homes but curious to ask those familiar with the area. Chicago native, considering buying in RP in the next 12 months - likely somewhere around the metra.

I'm a woman who is used to walking everywhere and generally I feel safe day and night.

Previously in Andersonville and Edgewater in recent years.

I have a father who Im only now realizing is textbook OCPD. Im quite certain he has it and so glad I have found this community.

I have a diagnosed BPD sibling.

Anyone else with this combo in their family?

Jeez it's a lot to navigate.

I know I can vent here and Im grateful.

I lost the only sane parent I had over the holidays - my mom. Im left with a parent (my father) who shows similar personality characteristics as my BPD (diagnosed) sibling. Its so hard and so lonely to try and hear him still, after all this time, deny that my sibling has a mental illness. Even in estate legal meetings or anytime we talk to trusted professionals of any sort, he gaslights me when I try to advocate for reality.

When my mom died, I lost the ability to keep up the charade. My father continues to tell people lies - that my mom and sibling were close (they weren't, my bpd sibling was insanely abusive towards her. My mom was actually afra

Hi all. I could use some support and advice.

My mom just passed away and Im left alone with having to navigate life and funeral plans with only my bpd sibling and my other parent (the enabler.)

How do I navigate grieving for my parent who has passed when Im surrounded by those dynamics?

My father is still trying to pressure me to rekindle the relationship with my BPD sibling that I had to go NC with for nearly 10 years because it was impacting my mental health so badly.

He acts like the abuse I suffered wasnt enough. Ive watched my sibling's untreated illness break apart my family.

I also watched my mom suffer for years while my BPD sibling treated her terribly... Now that my mom's gon

I need advice.

My BPD sibling is increasingly referencing lawsuits she plans to bring against my elderly parents. I do not believe this is made up - She even tried to sue the therapist who diagnosed her. She has a history of this kind of stuff.

Even the threats and intimidation are impacting my moms health. (She literally told me so after being in the hospital recently.)

What can/should I be doing to protect my parents?

Im NC for nearly a decade with good reason. But I have overheard or had them tell me several times she has referenced legal action against them.

Is there a type of attorney who can put protections in place against an unwell sibling with nefarious intentions?

As they

We finally found a home after many months and were thrilled when the offer was accepted. Then we got to inspection.

Roof was near end of life, which wasnt a huge surprise because we knew the owners were older, had been there nearly 20 years and had no idea of the age of the roof.

Plus we had learned it was previously owned by a flipper who ran out of money and the bank took it over before the current owners obtained it.

We didnt love to hear that a flipper owned it at one point, but it's hard to avoid in major cities. We just hoped for the best.

Most things were minor or fine on upper floors. But then, the inspector told us the basement walls were holding water and wet to touch. The

Trigger Warning: Emotional Abuse

Hi all, I could really use some help and advice here. This is long. But I need to get this out. And I could use some help.

I am deep into my therapy journey for 3 decades and had been doing so well it was amazing. Like really, really well.

I survived layoffs during the pandemic, which was hard because I was out of work for awhile but finally got a job. It was intense but I was just glad to be working again.

I started that new job in the best place with my c-pstd.

Most people there were great, but over time people came forward and told me (and I experienced it myself) that my direct boss was a nightmare. Extremely controlling, manipulative, wpumd cause chaos constantly, etc...and I n

I got an email today from a kind and well intended family member. She asked me if I was still in touch with my sibling. I am not. That part I disclosed but changed topics to avoid a deeper conversation.

She then went back to the topic a few minutes later and asked if I would ever be willing to share my thoughts about her....I could tell she wanted to engage in a meaningful conversation. She lives closeby her, I live far away (intentionally.)

She mentioned noticing her behavior was off, but in more polite terms, almost as if she was struggling to figure out what was going on.

I know she's coming from a good place. Shes kind, not the type to drum up drama or gossip. But I also have no i

We had a great time today smorkeling at smiths reef but after less than an hour, my husband said he felt like something had stung him in a few spots. We got out of the water shortly after and he had a red rash on several areas of his arms and behind one of his knees. Any idea what it could be? We treated it with a wash and alcohol wipes etc and he's doing better, its much less red but he says it feels like someone burnt those areas with a hot pan from the stove.

Ive read about jellyfish larvae but isnt it off season for those? Any ideas on what else it could be and any tips to treat the area?

I was out there swimming too but had no issues, but he was in a few different areas than me at t
