Following the MJF-Ospreay promo battle from Dynamite there was a thread on r/squaredcircle talking about wrestlers bragging about having great matches in promos.

I came across a user who insisted that Ric Flair cut promos in the 80s where he talked about having the best match:

I tried injecting some sense and reason into the discussion, but as you can see it was like trying to reason with a goldfish.

The thread did make me think I’d heard Cornette talk about this very topic before.

Can anyone else remember any podcast episodes where he dove in on wrestlers bragging about having the best match, especially 40 years ago?

Side note… I

I got an aftermarket solar charging panel from Amazon for my existing 2nd gen Ring doorbell, hoping to avoid/reduce having to take it off the mount and charge it as often as I do.

I connected the two wires to the terminals but the wires are, while thin, too thick to allow me to put the Ring back on the mount. I can get one screw in on one side, but the wires create too much of a gap to allow the other side to screw in.

Is there a solution to this that I’m just not seeing? Or is there a mount I can use? I don’t need or want an angled mount or a security mount, both of which dominate my search results.

Anyone else have this problem?

In another post someone asked about ways Vince McMahon made different things not matter in WWE.

I responded that there was a period of a time when several matches would simply end with no bell, no winner announced to the crowd, and no explanation from commentary about the outcome of the match itself.

I couldn’t remember a specific RAW/SD match, but after some searching I found Battleground 2013, an example of them not only ending a match with absolutely no finish, but ending an ENTIRE PPV with absolutely no finish:

This is one of the most unsatisfying ends to a PPV event ever. It ended with Orton and Bryan on the mat and Big Show climbing the

Got into a debate on r/sc about Eaton in a thread about different wrestlers engaging in improper conduct with underage girls.

Someone responded by calling out both the RnR and MX for having “a line of groupies outside their hotel rooms”.

I suggested that nobody should lump Eaton in with that with zero evidence, having never heard of Eaton doing anything inappropriate.

I got downvoted and the argument was that Cornette himself said Eaton was a regular culprit. I asked if Cornette said that explicitly about Eaton, and the response back was, essentially, “I’m not going to listen to the entire back catalog of podcasts to provide proof to support my accusation”.

Can anyone here shed light

I’ve seen a range of reactions to MSK’s debut last night on NXT, and the new names they’ve been given. I had never seen them before, so I wasn’t emotionally invested, but I do generally hate when known talents are given new names, especially when there’s no solid reason for it.

In this case I don’t understand why they felt the need to change Wentz’s name (Xavier’s is easier to understand, as I’m sure neither he nor Xavier Woods want the conflict). It’s possible he didn’t want to license the name to WWE, but I doubt it.

The thing is, by changing Wentz’s name to “Nash Carter” they’ve not only forced a connection with Kevin Nash, but he’s now one of THREE active wrestlers with the last name

Things are going to be awfully quiet for WM this year with only essential personnel on hand and zero fans in attendance. There’s no way around it (short of postponing the show, which I personally think they should have done.)

What if you made it loud instead?

I say hire a wrestling-friendly band (like Poppy) or two and have them in an off-site recording studio with full monitors. After ring entrances, have them play the “soundtrack” for each match live. If they pick the right band they’ll be able to improvise along with the action, rising and falling in time with high spots, etc., and create a unique atmosphere that obviously can’t replace a live audience but would be better than having a

I’ve only been casually watching AEW, and I have zero insider knowledge at this point, but I want to throw out a guess before it’s too late.

The one guy who would shock the hell out of me more than any other suggested name (Harry, Lee, Archer, etc.) is a guy who has a legitimate real-life grudge against companies like AEW. He’s masterful on the mic, and does an awesome job of making you feel his matches and promos are real. He’s also not signed to any major company, and in fact just severed ties with one. Oh, and he has a match booked against the AEW champion coming up.

What if it’s David Starr?

Obviously he’d have to be willing to work with them despite their anti-union stance, but if

For a guy who isn’t well known, Arturo Ruas lit it up this week with two of my favorite matches of the last twelve months or so.

First, at EVOLVE’s 10th Anniversary show he and Anthony Henry shocked the hell out of me by putting on a display of stiff shots and solid grappling, all while telling an awesome story. I’m not sold on Henry, but the two of them made me forget I was watching a worked match for a moment.

Then, Ruas and Matt Riddle had what I believe has to be the most realistic pro wrestling-MMA hybrid match in WWE history. That match had NONE of the usual sports entertainment trappings and was purely Riddle’s UFC skills vs. Ruas’s judo/BJJ/capoeira. Brilliant stuff, made that mu

After seeing the excitement following DON and hearing Moxley on TIJ, I honestly feel WWE is as vulnerable to competition as it has ever been in my 30+ years of watching. I’m not saying the company is in danger of folding, but for the first time since WCW folded conditions are optimal for new companies to establish a significant beachhead in the business.

Unlike when TNA made its big push, the major factor to me is that the industry is absolutely flooded with talent currently in their prime. There’s obviously more than enough to stock AEW, and that really doesn’t scratch the surface when you consider how many wrestlers are sitting on the sidelines either misused, underused, or not used at a
