This is something I've heard many times as a criticism of both Season 2 and Jinx's character arc, and it's usually just stated as a fact without any disagreement or pushback.

The truth is that Jinx's struggle with mental illness and trauma continues throughout the entirety of the show.

For example:

- she hates herself, calling herself a curse on Violet, her family, and her entire society

- says that she only feels alive when fighting and death is a possibility

- tells Violet it's okay for her to kill her and that she's glad it was her, implying she's wanted to die

- has a brief psychotic break during which she almost accidentally shoots Sevika when she learns that Isha has been ta

Kashimo is a plot device

SpoilerManga Discussion

First note - I am not saying that Kashimo is a bad character JJK would be better without. He works well for his intended purpose.

By plot device I mean that his primary role in the story is to serve as a psychological and philosophical foil for primary characters, his development is very 2D, and he could be removed from the story pretty easily. So what roles does he play?

  1. Showing how “non-standard” both Gojo and Sukuna are. He symbolizes all of the people who were The Strongest in eras where the competition was so weak that it didn’t mean shit. Gojo isn’t just the best in his generation, he’s the only one in hundreds of years who is even in Sukuna’s league. Kashimo is like the valedic

I live in NYC, and while not anything like portrayed by right-wing media, there are a good number of violent crimes committed by psychotic people. While fortunately rare, sometimes people are killed. Usually in these cases the person has had a long prior criminal record of theft, property damage, battery, and/or sexual assault but were not punished bc they were not viewed as responsible for their actions.

The majority of people in the City, when this has happened, believe that the person should be sent to a place where they can be treated for mental illness and be prevented from harming more people. This is my view. Another group of people believe they should be charged with murder and sent

I’m a psychiatric NP, and I’ll be honest, I find the rapid and unregulated growth of AI to be terrifying. The effects on our society, psychology, relationships, and even the future of humanity are unpredictable with many obvious ways of going horribly wrong. But as shocking and scary as it is to me, just as shocking and scary has been the cruelty towards people who use AI for non-work related reasons over the past couple weeks.

So let me be frank. It is harmful to shame & judge people for using AI for companionship or even treating it like a friend. I think it’s very cruel how people are being treated, even in cases where it has clearly become a problem in their lives. If you do this, you a

DAE hate guided meditations?

Is this dysfunctional? (Probably)

Something I’ve noticed. I have been practicing Zen Buddhism for a little over a decade.

If you don’t know much/anything about Zen - the central practice is silent meditation for long periods of time.

Meditation has been one of the most beneficial things that I’ve done for myself in my life.

However…

Once in a while, for god knows what reason, I let myself be dragged to some kind of guided meditation, thinking maybe it will be different.

Nope! As always, it made me feel worse.

“Bring your attention to your body. Now what are you feeling?”

Physical sensations. Increased self-consciousness.

“Which part of your body has the most pain or discomfort?”

My stomach, because last night

LLM Induced Mental Illness

NSFWSerious replies only :closed-ai:

Trigger warning: this post will discuss serious mental illness, including suicide.

Psychiatric providers are increasingly seeing patients come in with serious mental illness caused or worsened by excessive use of LLMs for non-work or productivity related reasons. Most are related to ChatGPT bc it is the most popular LLM among consumers, although GPT 4o does seem to cause more severe problems more frequently than any other widely used product

The risks for most people are well-known, but easy to forget. The risks for the average person of using and viewing LLMs as a friend/companion/counselor are emotional dependence on the technology, social withdrawal and anxiety, neglect of your rela

JFC the surgery ending is bleak

SpoilerPhantom Liberty Expansion

I knew it was bad news bears & I was being lied to, and it’s not the ending I ultimately want for this playthru of V, but I wanted to experience it once.

It felt like the emotional equivalent of being kicked hard in the balls.

  • I’m a fucking sellout, no way to spin it otherwise
  • I chose to let a corp kill Johnny thru a medical procedure
  • Everybody I knew and loved is either gone or hates me now
  • I went from Arasaka counter-intel to the best netrunner merc in NC to a desk job at Militech offered as a consolation prize for helping them clean up the dangerous mess they made
  • if I go back to NC I have no skills left and dozens if not hundreds of enemies, I’ll be dead within a couple weeks

So first play through I went pretty standard Cool/Body/Tech build. In other words:

Early game: win by drawing fights out

Late game: bulldoze through mechs and heavies like Revy from Black Lagoon with my Militech Apogee, insane HP/AP, crazy headshot critical bonuses, and arsenal of heavy explosives

Now I’m a Netrunner. In other words:

Early game: I am a mouse sneaking through the den of tigers.

Late game: I AM THE TIGER AND YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE MY HUNT

Honestly apologize for the post, being a Netrunner is just so incredibly visceral, switching to really being this predatory hunter is super cool. 1000% recommend if you went a different build first time around.

What really holds Megumi back

SpoilerManga Discussion

Names and how one is seen by others in JJK are always meaningful and complex. Many characters are defined socially primarily not by what they have chosen to do or accomplished but merely bc of their power. This is a burden and one that is difficult for anyone to accept.

For Gojo, this is obviously ‘The Strongest’.

For Megumi, this is ‘Potential’. Like Gojo, most people that he knows do not view him as a human being so much as a potential weapon and either an asset to acquire or a danger to nip in the bud.

This is both a gift and a curse. Megumi, an orphan who started with nothing when he came to Jujutsu High, is slowly becoming one of the most powerful sorcerers in the world at a young

As a person with a serious mental illness, the phrase that Jinx is “hot because she’s crazy” pisses me off so much.

Some people consider women who are highly emotionally expressive to be more feminine. I personally think that’s weird, but people have their preferences.

However, if you genuinely find people who struggle with mental illness more attractive, there is something wrong with you. You’re likely mentally ill yourself, a narcissist, and/or a predator – please get off the dating market and into therapy.

I’m going to list some of the real reasons Jinx is attractive, things backed up by science. I’m going to omit physical attractiveness bc most characters in Arcane are physically

I know there are posts like this all the time, but I still think they can be fun. Specifically, for this question, I’m interested in things that would be realistic given our modern understanding of science and physics. The power that got me thinking about this first would be a firebending technique that would work like a thermobaric explosive.

Firestorm/Pressure Bending

·      The challenge of this technique would be generating truly extreme degrees of heat through precise, maintained control over pressure

·      This would require the bender to limit the effect to a small zone into which increasing heat can be poured without it spreading and dissipating

·      Eventually the heat and

Yesterday I sat down and spent a stupid amount of time figuring out how expensive Arcane S2 cost relative to the 5 most expensive productions of 2024 in 5 different categories: movies/film, prestige TV, Western animation, anime, and video games.

The easiest example for me to trot out is Inside Out 2, which was 3x as expensive per unit of runtime.

  • Inside Out 2: $200 million budget / 135 minute runtime = $1.4 million per minute
  • Arcane S2: $110 million budget / 360 minute runtime = $0.48 million per minute

But after crunching the numbers and preparing a post with a very long breakdown, I figured I would just ask the question that I was really after - something I genuinely don't understa

Read a couple paragraphs (if you can) before automatically downvoting my post.

I have epilepsy and my medication to prevent me from having seizures is only covered by insurance if it's filled in my home state. I always keep a week extra, my friend picked it up as early as possible (Sunday) and sent it 2nd day air that evening, so I wasn't feeling worried at all. Weather events caused delays, totally understandable, I got email saying delivery scheduled Wed, then Thurs, then Fri.

It didn't arrive today and this weekend I will run out of medication. My insurance will not cover the cost of a second refill without an official statement that my package is delayed or lost which UPS refuses to
