I like reading mysteries along the lines of Tony Hillerman, Rex Stout, and Agatha Christie. I've mostly done my book shopping at Friends of the Library book sales, so I keep adding old books to my library. I keep buying the same books (I don't feel I have time to whip out a list of what I already have at the book sales). I'd like something new. Are there any modern authors who write good whodunits? Nothing scary please.

I did check out the Thursday Murder Club from the library recently and it was okay. I swear the author threw out obvious red herring after red herring for the last third of the book and it became tedious. That's the closest I've gotten to a current author in years.

Well, I caved.

I've been trying to be more accepting of my chin and lip hairs, which have been growing more aggressively since I have the mean combination of PCOS and age. I've also been feeling more down about my looks in general lately as my body is changing. My moustache has been a problem for a long time (and there was an unfortunate bleaching incident as a teenager), but the chin hairs have been increasing more often lately. At first I plucked the few that were there, then shaved. Shaving became too frustrating, so I started trimming. Recently, I said fukkit and let them grow. For the most part, they were curving under my chin, which I found puzzling but was okay with. But sometimes th

Has anyone had their immune system go haywire in their gallbladder (or other similar organ)?

I've been dealing with pain that varies from 6-9. I have the pain part of the list of symptoms but, after a visit to the ER, don't have any stones in there. Twice now, I've gotten a shot of Dexamethasone and a Tordol generic at my GP's office and it's knocked my pain down to a 2-3. Usually, taking tordol is like spitting in the wind and does nothing for me. It's the dexamethasone that I'm eyeing. I feel like it could be a real bad case of inflammation instead of something that needs surgery. I have a previously-acquired methylprednisone pack I'll be starting tomorrow to see if it does anything.

Greetings!

I just watched a short ad that had someone's hand placing human figures on the screen as the video went on and drawing on them to add details. The paper figures move slightly, but I can't tell if it's stop motion or if the whole thing is **. I hope it's not just ** and that there is actually a person behind this.

Would you say this is also puppetry? If not, what would you call it?

If you are curious, the short video (1:32 mins) is on this webpage: https://www.zooniverse.org/about

Thanks!

Does anyone have one of these they are willing to post photos of? I'm especially looking for a side photo to get an idea of how big they are with the tail. Bonus if there is a size reference in the photo (hand, ruler, another plushie, etc.)

Thanks!

I saw this zodiac blind box series on AE and decided I wanted the capricorn. I've never gotten a Mobo Star blind box before. I saw the image of it and realized it would probably be a 'bit' larger than the Skullpanda plushies I have, so I ordered a new itabag with a larger display pocket. I just got the plushie in the mail. I dismissed the size of the box because I know these things often have room to slide around, plus I was excited to see it. I laughed so hard once I got it out of the box. I love it, but I have no idea what to do with it now. (I did find a bag online with an extra large display that looks like it could hold it [and nothing else] that I've bookmarked.)

If y'all would like

My chronic pain and illness has gotten really out of control for the past few months. I've been dealing with chronic daily migraines since 2005 (but had symptoms for years prior). I also have bad inflammation that causes a lot of pain. This is the worst flare up of pain I've ever had. I am way more irritable than usual and have little patience or tolerance.

I've been spending a lot more time on reddit recently and reflexively commented on different subreddits a LOT. While I've taken time to form the message and review/edit numerous times before posting, it seems that a lot of my comments are coming across as kinda... frantic and uncontrolled. Like reflexive desperation I guess. While some c

This is a bag I found on AliExpress. I'm looking for a bag with the same display layout or very similar.

I need a large display for this sucker

I want the plushie size display window on the front, like this bag has, and the smaller windows beside it to use for buttons. I'm not concerned about the displays on the sides, so that's optional.

The AliExpress bag looks like really flimsy vinyl (and from past experience, probably is). Has anyone seen this layout on

Been dealing with chronic migraines since 2005. Was diagnosed with mcas years ago (forgot the year exactly but definitely after the migraine diagnosis.) and it was confirmed by an endoscopy.

I didn't realize until recently that mcas can fuck up more systems than I thought. Due to my treatment resistance (mcas went on the warpath with botox. weak laugh. :| ) and constant negative results from MRIs and other diagnostic machines, I'm starting to wonder if my migraines are actually caused by my mcas.

The only meds I've been prescribed for my mcas are two antihistamines and cortisone cream (I also hoard steroid packs for organ inflammation, but a recent attempt at using it failed to help.) I

Holy crap, it never occurred to me to look for an mcas subreddit until tonight. Diagnosed with it years ago. Confirmed with endoscopy.

For some reason, it's gotten out of control lately. The only medication I'm on for it is citirizine and sporadic desperate calls for prednisone from a dr. Over the past handful of weeks, I've developed sinusitis, bronchitis, fever-like chills, massive headache (I also get chronic migraines. Unrelated, afaik.), entire body itching, weird pain on the back of my ankles that feels like I've been wearing new dress shoes, and earaches as of yesterday. I'm also dehydrated af. I'm out of pedialyte. I'm out of breath and wheezing just from walking to the kitchen.

Going off meds

Medication

My psych doctor wants me to stop taking all my psych meds so he can 'start with a blank slate'. He did tell me about tapering but I forgot it all except for a couple of meds. I've p much just been doing the 'every other day' thing, but all the white pills look the same. I can't tell a cetirizine from a fluvoxamine. So as of today, I'm quitting them all (the psych meds, not my antihistamine xD ). I'm nervous. Wish me luck. My next psych appt is on the 18th I think.
