Hi all, North Islander looking to drag the wee ones out to the snow for a few hours and not quite sure how read the weather/snow forecasts for non-ski-field areas.

Does anyone know if there is accessible snow near Lake Lyndon at the moment, or where the best shot is within an hour or two drive from Christchurch?

I currently have an ongoing automatic deposit and fund investment going with InvestNow, and am looking at 3x rolling 3mo. Term Deposits as a better use of my emergency fund than the bank account it is currently sitting in.

The rates shown on the Investnow platform seem to match those provided directly from the providers (advertised at least). Are there any negatives to using Investnow rather than going directly?

For this assessment let's assume 3x ~$5000 TD @ 3 month terms (which automatically excludes ANZ with $10k minimums)

Hi all,

With a baby on board I'm looking to start a bit of a side fund for when he grows up.

Is there a general guiding philosophy around what makes a good 14-18 year investment vehicle that can be added to sporadically?

Standard option seems to be a bank account that rewards 'no withdrawals'. Other options? Index fund? No major starting balance for a term deposit etc.

Relatively long time frame, medium or even high risk tolerance as it's superfluous to my own financial planning.

Thanks in advance.

Inspired by the racist outpourings from the current elderly generation hitting the news, it got me wondering what I'm likely to be grumbling about in 30-40 years time when I become a grumbling old bastard.

In my thirties: fine with homosexuality, non racist etc.

So r/NZ, what do I have to look forward to grumble about?

Hi All,

I've got my first ever batch of home brew underway and I've got a pile of used bottles. However, I do not have a capper and my budget doesn't currently extend to these ~$70 bench cappers for what may be just a flight of fancy. The hand ones are, according to the 'interwebs', a bad investment if I end up enjoying brewing long term.

Does anyone out there have a capper that they are willing to lend, loan or sell for a reasonable price? I'll even throw in a (probably terrible) beer!

It's Monday morning, and you've been waiting on a side road for what feels like hours. A kind soul lets you pull out into bumper-to-bumper traffic.

As you approach the next intersection, you notice another frustrated looking commuter waiting on a side road.

If you pay it forward and let this person in, turn to page 7.

If you prefer not to insult the person who let you in (by adding more cars ahead of them and extending their commute), turn to page 22.

Hi all,

I'm looking to get a variant made of a current company logo, with a small change to wording and colour scheme. I have the original (in .eps/jpg/pdf) and a fantastic MS Paint design of what I want.

As the original designer is no longer in business, does anyone have recommendations for a company/individual that could do a good job for a fair price? Preferably NZ based because economy.
