I have a tiny (~4' x 7') "meadow" in my Puget Sound back garden and need to reseed. I originally purchased a "pollinator mix" of different single seed packets from a PNW natives online nursery, but the yarrow and holboell's rockcress got dry and stocky in the summer, making the patch look messy. The area is mostly sunny; if I don't establish additional plants asap some nearby beach strawberry will take over. Does anyone have any suggestions of specific species for reseeding? TIA!

I received such helpful information yesterday in response to my post about an affordable latex/hybrid setup for a side sleeper with back pain. The consensus is that a medium traditional spring mattress with topper is the right strategy. How do folks choose between latex and latex/wool toppers?
I'm used to pillow-top mattresses, tend towards chilliness (I've used a heated mattress pad for years, which I understand I may need to ditch or use on low for a limited mount of time), and am roughly 125#. All this leads me to assume that the hybrid topper would probably be better. Are they worth the higher price? Thanks again!
I've been reading/searching this sub for several weeks and today was told to prioritize a new mattress by my orthopedist. I believe I want latex or a hybrid due to lower risk of mold (severe allergies), but, as a side sleeper, I don't want something too firm. I'm also on a budget. In this case, should I get a solid traditional (spring) mattress, but invest in a wool/latex topper? I need to keep the total at/under $1200. TIA!
I'll be in Gent for a few days this month and would love suggestions of walks. (I've searched the sub and see past threads about nature walks, but I'm more interested in exploring the city.) I'm staying in Ekkergem and will, of course, visit the center, but am curious about other areas, too. I'm interested in diverse and creative neighborhoods, old churches, all kinds of architecture, public art and museums, parks and gardens. I speak some Dutch, but not Vlams. Thank you for any recommendations!
I'll be in Gent in June for a few days and would love suggestions of walks (folks in this sub gave me parallel advice for Antwerpen a couple years ago, which was really helpful). I'm staying in Ekkergem and will, of course, visit the center, but am curious about other areas, too. I'm interested in diverse and creative neighborhoods, old churches, all kinds of architecture, public art and museums, parks and gardens. I speak some Dutch, but not Vlams (let alone West-Vlams). Thank you for any recommendations!
My garden has been in the ground for less than two years, so things are still getting established and I'm working to enrich my urban soil. Can I add wood chips later in the summer, when I am able, or should I wait til autumn or even next spring? A couple inches remain, but I definitely no longer have 6-8," etc., around shrubs. TIA!
I'm craving chicken curry and keep spending way too much on lackluster versions. Especially interested in South Asian interpretations, but open to other cuisines, as long as the curry is rich and complex. TIA!
I'm creating a small _rustic_ patio and tucking ground covers/mosses into a mix of soil and compost between the flagstones. I prefer native plants, but am open--I know various thymes, et al, can be good in these spaces. Anywhere I should look beyond Swanson's, GoNatives, and Kruckeberg? Are there any hearty ground covers that you would risk putting in the ground now vs. waiting till autumn? (I know they'll need lots of water over summer.) TIA!
I really enjoyed Breakfast Leipzig, though I only picked up tobacco. Wanting to scratch the itch for warm, rich, and comforting, without being overtly sweet, and without paying $75. (I have a few DS&D candles, all purchased used or on sale, which seems about right imho.) Is Faith DILF a good alternative? I'm looking for some complexity, but realize that can be hard to find at a lower price point. TIA!
I usually stick to very casual--and wonderful--Middle Eastern, North African, and (South)east Asian restaurants when I visit, but would like to treat myself to one vaguely upscale meal that's in/walkable from the 19th/20th. Open to various cuisines, don't care about Michelin stars. I'm curious about Kubri, but would appreciate other suggestions :)
I'm still newish to this world and would love some suggestions. I'm a cold weather person, and am looking for a "transitional" candle that hearkens to spring without losing all warmth and coziness. I love AdV Opéra, but waiting till I'm in Paris in a few months to pick up another. I also like Breakfast Leipzig, though never picked up any notes other than tobacco. I want to avoid vanilla and anything overly sweet. Any suggestions? TIA!
I've been using Japanese (gel) cream foundations for almost two decades, always using my fingers, and am wondering if using a brush would help me apply more precisely, building up sheer layers of coverage in particular areas, etc. Are there any brushes folks like for this type of foundation? TIA!
I've searched the archives and most related posts are by fair or muted olives. I'm trying to adapt the Nina Park method like everyone else and am looking for a cool-toned, naturalistic pencil to blend out along the lip line. My usual lip colors lean deep cool burgundy/magenta...Laka Glam Tint 123 + Pat McGrath Full Blooded in the center. TIA for any advice/recommendations!
I'm in the US, but have ordered Kanebo cream foundation from Asia for 20 years, always in the darkest OC shade (most recently Lively Skin Cream Foundation in OCE). The new shade range has a different organizational system and the company swatches are on fair skin and hard to gauge; ditto re. YouTube. Does anyone know if 250 Cinnamon, 335 Sand, or 345 Amber is most likely to work on neutral olive medium-tan skin?
