hi. I simply want to express my frustration and disappointment with the field I chose and how difficult it’s been to get a job that’ll keep me afloat financially. While I only received my associate license in May, I think that’s been more than enough time to realistically find something, but that hasn’t been the case. My current job is a dead end, has been depleting my mental health the longer I stay here, and not counseling related so I’m just there for a check to pay my car bill and student loans. I look into associate positions everyday for hours on end hoping that out of the handful of jobs I apply to, at least one will work out. That hasn’t been the case (clearly). I am trying to reloc

has it always been this difficult to enter the field? 🥲 i just graduated a few months ago and obtained my lpc-a license only to feel such remorse and regret over my career choice bc of how difficult it’s been to get a job, let alone one that pays enough to keep me afloat. so many, if not all, job listings clearly express having no space for associates and won’t even consider them. i don’t understand how im supposed to begin obtaining my hours if no one even wants to hire associates.
im seriously considering career alternatives and how i can pivot at this point… :/
tl/dr: shitty time entering the field as an lpc-a, considering job alternatives
Hi everyone, I’m a recent counseling psychology graduate looking into a couple of PhD programs for the Fall 2026 cycle. While I have some research and clinical experience, I don’t think a gap year would look too good on my resume, so I’m trying to do what I can to expand my qualifications.
I’m working full time at the moment in a job unrelated to the profession to sustain myself, but I was hoping to get some advice on how to get involved in research now that I’m no longer a student. My research interests focus around health psychology, Latinx mental health, & developing culturally inclusive interventions.
Here’s my summed up experience: BA - Psych MA - Counseling Psych
Worked for 2 years

so so happy and relieved 🥹 needed this win after struggling a bit lately
Hi!
I would appreciate some clarification and help on figuring the State Examination process for the NCE. I am testing for licensure in Washington, and was wondering if I'd be able to use the results for LPC-A licensure in my home state of Texas (where I attended grad school). The registration application said I can't be licensed in Texas until I'm licensed in Washington - maybe I'm just overthinking, but that would count licensure at the associate level, right?
I'm kind of just confused if cross licensure can be done at the associate level.
Pls excuse how uninformed I sound, I'm trying my best to figure things out
Hi, I’m a recent grad at the pre-licensure stage hoping to get more insight from those who practice in the Seattle & Bellevue areas. What should I expect from practicing in these areas? Are you paid a comfortable wage? Is there something you wish you knew before practicing here?
These are a couple of things going through my mind as I coordinate my next steps.
Any other general advice would be appreciated! Especially as it relates to LMHCA status and experience :)
this may be my delusions speaking but if a program hasn’t reached out to me at this point…i’m taking the optimistic route and believing that they’re just taking a little longer than usual 🤞 they have until April after all
just wondering since the interview date on the website is quickly approaching :0
