House: was new build in 2010, but was show home. We moved in in 2013 as the first occupiers.

Doing some DIY - went to take a light down to plan new lighting (check the status of the wall etc) - and water starts gushing out. It turns out they've screwed an electric light into the central heating pipe (or at least, I think it is the central heating, based on relatively low pressure).

I've put the screw back in to minimize any damage, and the light circuit will be staying off.

So: I'm trying to see if I have any options here?

  • can I pursue the original builder for faulty - bordering on dangerous - work?
  • anything under the house guarantee policy? It seems to exclude central heating and in

Last night, I had a minor bump in a car park. The details don't matter, but at the time I was unaware of it - I only became aware of it today after finding a ding and checking my dashcam footage. I was at fault, no injuries (no other party present). Since I didn't know about the prang at the time, I didn't exchange details etc.

After becoming aware today, I phoned 101 and self-reported the incident, being clear that I was seeking to satisfy my obligations under the Road Traffic Act. This was within the 24 hours. The person on the phone took my report, and issued a reference number.

Checking online, many sources say that such collisions must be reported in person - not by telephone. From

We get a lot of wind where we are - hill location, etc. Twice in the past we have had tiles come off the roof and damage a neighbour's car (and our own car, but that's my problem) in the shared car area between the two properties. My understanding is that when this relates to genuine storm weather (not just lack of maintenance), it is essentially just: shit that happens. No legal liability - the other party claims on their insurance.

However, if it happens again: is there a point at which I become liable? From my perspective, on both occasions we've had the roof professionally repaired by the house insurer's agents, so we haven't been negligent. But at the same time I can totally understand

In 0.15 I used to live by the rail segments visualization - show-rail-segments in the F4 debug menu. Now that I've switched to 0.16 (.6 at the moment) it looks like it has been removed. If anything, I thought it was going to get better (source: FF 198).

Have I missed an option somewhere?

edit: tada! very tidy solution: https://www.reddit.com/r/factorio/comments/72421w/fixed_filtering_by_both_of_two_signals/

Circuit networks. Say we get 8 signals in, but we're only interested in 4 specific ones of them. Obviously I can add 4 separate filters and sum the outputs, which would work but is ugly.

Scenario is for LTN, basically implementing the "things to load and unload" for multi-purpose stations with multiple inputs and outputs. What I'd like to do is have all my loaders on one side, all my unloaders on the other. I can compute the "stuff still to unload" and "stuff still to load" by comparing the train contents (station) to the expected train contents (constant provid

So I've been playing with trackside furnaces - I prefer not to go mad with robots, but I don't see the point in transporting ore when I can just smelt everything as I load it - plus I can whack down a new station near a new mine and my capacity goes up instantly without ever needing to reconfigure my central furnaces.

Objectives / key points:

  • easy to split up evenly without ending up with the first car full and the last car almost empty - hence loading from the side rather than a single belt
  • handle multiple inputs (assumes they're all fairly constant, but add your own 4x4 splitter if not)
  • work for any ore/stone without requiring any configura

I'm struggling a bit with rails. I have twin tracks (one each way) between various outposts and my main factory, using roundabouts for all junctions, with chain signals at stations and bypasses, and on roundabouts. In several places I have extra branches for staging areas, and the stations with more than one train have multiple platforms (each their own segment). All sounds like it should work, right?

Except it constantly jams. From observation it looks like once a path is successfully taken, those segments are all locked and no other train that would use those segments will even start its journey until it passes the competing segments - even if it is miles away and there are available p

So I've taken a few "bring some tea to a station that is in 'outbreak'" missions; tea; nothing expensive... tea.

I now have 4 different "we've heard there are people trying to stop you" notifications. I've managed to take out an eagle with some mines, and keep running from a combat python and FDL, and of course no matter where I go, they spawn immediately directly on my tail and insta-dict me.

I've even seen the FDL get destroyed not once but twice by stations (I'm a long way from my target, doing a loop) - and the python got taken down to 20% hull before managing to jump away. My shields were still up, so I jump, and in the next system over: sure enough the python is back on my tail w
