Boop boop boop ❤️❤️❤️
So brave! I’m glad he’s ok now and he has such lovely colouring
Immediately booped screen. Boop sent.
Best of boops to Patrick! Also I vote for him to get an eyepatch, I've heard chicks love it.
Then I'd have to rename him to Snake Plissken or Solid Snake...
I do not see a problem with this statement.
Get well boop
Boop! Feel better soon Patrick!
Boop
Poor boy! Feel better soon, Patrick. -boop-
Thank you for doing all you can for noodle boy. I love this sub, hopefully one day I can be a noodle parent. They are special!
Boopity-Boop
Aww, poor Patrick. boops! Get well soon!
Bippity boppity boop!
Any tips on avoiding this for people at home? I have a noodle friend with stubborn eyecaps
Hyrdrate your snek; baths can help, but works best from the inside out. Perhaps soak their food in water before offering - or use a wide syringe to inject some water into the food. I should add that we only use frozen+thawed, which makes that possible! You can use spray misters etc, but too much moisture in the air can contribute to respiratory problems.
99c store Tupperware big enough to comfortably hide in, cut or melt opening for snek (plus 1” circumference) add sphagnum moss to make about 1” thick damp/moist pillow. Humidity supplement that doesn’t change the entire environment, snek can get humidity and also breathe clean, dry air. No resp infections. 😁
Is there somewhere I can buy these? My girl always seems to have a stuck she'd and I have to help her and I honestly don't know where to begin to make on of those.
I usually place this as soon as I see one of mine getting a little blue or if I have a rescue who needs rehydration. Usually keeps the shed nice and damp for unrolling too.
CAUTION: Do not put this hide box over/against/too close to a heat source. Snakes are dumb and they will cook themselves because it’s warm and wet and comfy. Check your temps by leaving a thermometer/probe in the box for the duration of use.
boop
I thought this was the krusty krab
This makes me want a snek sooooo freaking much. Before this sub I was afraid to snakes, but now they're adorable to me and I want to have one, and name it either Princef Tanx or Spoofy (Game Grump references BTW).
Is this the Krusty Krab?
No, thissss isssss Patrick.
Double boop ❤️ All the love to you and this brave little snek!
Well done Patrick you b r a v e b o y e Now you can wear a patch like a pirate snek!
Context: like most of our animals, Patrick is a rescue and didn't have a great setup with his previous carer, leading to him having a lot of problems with shedding and retained eye-caps.
Well, this week it came to a head - literally - and his shed went so wrong that despite my vet's best efforts (with multiple great exotic vets in the practice): he lost his other eye (the one out of frame).
But he's making a great recovery, and took a chick last night - which I didn't expect at all.
Send boops.
(edit: I realise from comments that the "chick" thing was unclear; I mean he ate a frozen+thawed day old chick - his absolute favorite snek snak; and to anyone wondering "why are you handling him if he ate yesterday?" - because he needs his antibiotic injection to avoid post-op infection)
That snek is like some kinda old school badass, completely banged up, yet still managed to score some booty.
10/10 badass snek, sending lots of boops and 👍👍
We chose chick because it is his favorite. Gerbil or rat is a "maybe", but chick is a "must". One does not play iffits in a house with exotics.
now you've lost me.
Did you not mean a lady snek by saying chick? I've always heard chick as a way of saying a woman/girl.
Much like dude for men/guys
Well that and baby chickens, but since I've never heard of snek eating baby chickens ....
I'm lost and confused lol
Edit: my life has been shattered, poor baby chick chicks 😔.
I'm sure OP meant a juvenile bird, probably baby chicken.
this is so wholesome <3
stuff like fish, geckos, and chicks are used as feed for all sorts of sneks, depending on species, owner preference/convenience, and the individual tastes of the snek itself.
Day old chicks are a readily available snek snak. Almost certainly male: the poultry industry doesn't need many males, so chicks that are believed to be male are essentially waste. They get a few extra coins by selling them to the exotics industry. The bottom draw of my freezer is full of assorted rodents, chicks, quail, etc.
/me holds u/Ygro_Noitcere as he cries at the thought of those baby chicks that didn't get to grow up into chicken sandwiches.
Haha, I thought you were joking in the first comment!
My corns eat a mixture of mice and baby chicks. They will eat anything and always act constantly hungry, but they go absolutely insane for the chicks.
They also have the foulest poop imaginable afterwards. I assume it's the higher protein or something.
Boops to hoomam fren too.
“His shed went so wrong....he lost his other eye” Can you please explain to me how this happens?! He’s beautiful btw.
It wasn't one single thing; basically a series of bad sheds and retained caps. Obviously we haven't ignored it, but even slight damage can leave a small amount of scarring by the eye, and when you have scarring it makes a sticking point that might not shed well next time. And of course they might cause mild trauma trying to rub it off. Eventually it just got too damaged. There's a good chance he already had limited vision on that side by that time, of course.
And to try to avoid: hydrate your snek, preferably into their system (not just externally, although baths can help). If you dead-feed, maybe dunk the food in water or inject some water into the food with a syringe.
We would always thaw the food by putting it hot tap water, changing the water several times as it thawed to keep the water warm. Then before feeding the food would get one final dunking into very warm tap water so that the meal would be close to live temperature. Never had a problem with eye caps.
you don't need hot tap water to thaw it.
Submerge it in cool water, place bowl of water under sink faucet, turn it on to just a trickle. Your frozen thing will thaw in next to no time, and no water swaps.
It's how I thaw my turkeys for the holidays.
Thanks for snexplaining!
This is amazing what you’ve done to help this cuddle sausage. I gave you some flair. :D
Well that's a flair to wear with pride! Thanks.
