Hello lovely BWT, hoping that you all can point me towards a compassionate, non-judgemental hair stylist who can help my mom feel fabulous again.

My mom (73) has been experiencing major hair loss for about 3-4 years now. When I say major, I mean it - she is essentially bald on the top of her head. She feels so self-conscious and embarrassed that she now avoids salons entirely and hasn't had a haircut in over 2 years. She is against hair regrowth formulas or hair pieces and has resigned herself to feeling this way about herself for the rest of her life. It breaks my heart to see her like this and I am terrified that this will snowball into other forms of self-neglect, especially since she do

What it says in the title 😢 We took her to Bond Vet in Clinton Hill and they took x-rays and diagnosed the tear. They are recommending that she have surgery on Monday to minimize the future effects and quoting us $6k. Our regular vet is Pure Paws in Clinton Hill and we have an appointment there on Friday.

Anyone have experience with this? Does the price/urgency make sense? We want to make sure to do the best for our girl and don't want to rush into surgery if we should be consulting a specialist or something instead. I just want her to have a pain-free future.

Sometime back between 1998-2000 I got a set of 2 or 3 books of scary stories at a school book fair - I was obsessed with them but can't for the life of me remember what they were called or who wrote them.

Here's what I can remember:

  • Each cover had a really lurid picture of a different monster on it - think like, dracula-style vampire with blue skin and blood on its fangs.
  • Each book had around 10-15 short stories.
  • The main characters were always kids or teens. Every story had a bad end and the characters almost always died.
  • Most or all of the stories had at least one black+white illustration with it.
  • One of the stories is about a couple of kids at the beach exploring an underwater

Does anyone know a pigeon owner/breeder who is missing a pigeon? A fancy pigeon has been hanging around at the southwest corner of Bedford and Willoughby Ave for about a month now - I first noticed it the weekend of 6/19. I haven't been able to get a good photo, but this is very clearly a domestic fancy pigeon. It's brown and white, and has a little ruff of feathers on the back of its head. There is also a band on its leg (I haven't been able to get close enough to see what it says).

I saw it again yesterday and it's starting to look a little worse for wear. Can anyone help this little friend find its way home?

I also posted on Nextdoor but if anyone has suggestions of other places I can p

I posted on here a while ago seeking help for my horrible puppy blues. I'm happy to report that now, a couple months later, things couldn't be more different! Me and the pup are well on our way to building a deep friendship. I'll be posting a more detailed update soon, but for now I'm just excited to share our potty training breakthrough!

Jolene, our 18wk australian cattle dog mix, has always been great about using the bathroom outside. When we go out for a potty break she'll do her business within minutes, which is a blessing in the northeastern US winter weather. The problem was that she had no issue going inside as well. No matter how diligently we cleaned, scheduled, anticipated her nee

Me and my boyfriend (both in our early 30's) rescued our 12 week old female Australian Cattle Dog mix around 2.5 weeks ago (she was around 9 weeks when we picked her up). We got really lucky, in that she came to us loving her crate and sleeping through the night, with great manners to boot. She's extremely smart and responsive to training, and she's already learned sit, down, and touch. However, over the past 2 weeks things have been getting progressively worse...but only for me.

While I'm at work, my boyfriend spends all day with the pup before going to work around 2 or 3. He sends me texts all day with cute photos of them cuddling, tells me all about how great she was on a leash for him,

My boyfriend and I are upgrading to a queen on a strict budget of $600 and under. We're both side sleepers and ~350lbs combined.

We went to Nest to try out the Love + Sleep, but while we were there we fell in love with the Alexander Signature in medium. Unfortunately we just can't afford it right now, and weren't big fans of the Love + Sleep (too bouncy).

I'm wondering if anyone can point me towards something similar to the Alexander medium, but for a lower price point? I know we won't be getting the same quality, but it is what it is.

Thanks so much everyone! I'm a first-time mattress buyer so any advice would be helpful.
