I noticed that while sitting on the ground the compass of the AH-64 is tilted in a different way depending on which direction you are facing. So I made a mission with four cold&dark Apaches, each one facing a different cardinal point and took screenshots.

I tried the same with the P-47 and the compass is always tilted the same way no matter what direction you are facing as expected when resting on a flat surface.

I don't know what I'm missing that could explain it.

I wonder if ED is aware that they are ruining every new WWII aircraft because of the prop effect. It causes peformance problems and looks terrible in VR, especially due to the reprojection artifacts.

So far I see this problem in the Spitfire, the FW-190A8 and the P-47.

The P-51, Fw-190D9 and Bf-190 are not affected and are a pleasure to fly free of these problems with the prop effect.

The P-47 module is spectacular, the sound alone is amazing. It's the one I was looking forward to try in the free event. Finding in the P-47 the same problem that's keeping my Spitfire and Anton grounded has been a big dissapointment and I felt the urge to take this out of me.

HP Reverb G1 geometric distortions

:Emoji-question: Question

With the Reverb G1, when I look left and right the distortions are pretty obvious, so I updated Windows to 20H2 yesterday specifically because of the visual quality update for Mixed Reality that, according to https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/mixed-reality-blog/windows-mixed-reality-visual-quality-update/ba-p/1874967 includes reduced radial distortion for the Reverb G1. But I still can see the distortions. Do I have to do anything after updating? Or perhaps the radial distortion has not been as much reduced with this update as I expected.

After a couple years using a Lenovo Explorer, the reviews of the new G2 made me wish for more resolution. I thought about getting a cheaper used G1 now instead of waiting months until there is stock of the G2 in my country. Due to a mix of bad luck and that I'm just stupid I have ended up with a G1 sold in may 2019 (Reverb's launch date, I think?) according to the s/n... and no earphones.

As this unit is of the firsts batches it has the flickering displays problem (and it even shutdown and reset on me just yesterday), but due to the new G2 flooding the internet with content it's a bit hard finding information about the G1, especially because it wasn't called "G1" before, of course. So I tho

Since some SteamVR versions from months ago (perhaps from 2019), whenever the game is unresponsive because is loading a level or whatever, when SteamVR sends you to the grey room it also shows the last rendered frame of the game inside the grey room. Pretty cool actually. And while it works as expected with my HTC Vive, with my Lenovo Explorer there are a couple problems.

First, this last rendered game image follows your head orientation instead of staying in one place. And second, instead of showing the last rendered frame it shows the last 3 rendered frames sequentially in rapid succession. So, everytime the game is unresponsive you have a stroboscopic image right at your eyes that follow

When I launch the desktop application in VR, if I select the "switch monitors" button I can see there are 3 more blank desktops. I can select them but can't load any application in them. Am I supposed to be able to use them to launch different applications in different desktops?

Edit 2: I got it! I put double slashes '//' to comment a line in autoexec.cfg, but that's not the correct syntax. I've been struggling with this all day, I should have posted it sooner. Thanks for the answers, very appreciated. I thought it was a problem with the new version.

Since the hotfixes to 2.5.6, if a mission has one or more client slots you can't select coalitions or roles if launched as a single player mission. If I create a private server I can use my missions, but being this my main way of enjoying DCS I don't like the idea, I want to launch the mission from the mission editor as always.

I hope this is a bug and not a new feature.

In the meantime, anyone knows of some lua/sett

I was forced to update to 1909 to install the xbox insider hub and, upon launching SteamVR I noticed that now I can see straight lines at the edge of the FOV on the left, right and bottom sides. Right now I'm back to 1809 and just checked that the FOV is back to normal.

Actually this is my second attempt at updating to 1909 and I noticed the same problem the first time and decided to stay in 1809 indefinitely. But now I'm forced to update if I want to participate on the FS2020 alpha.

Is this a known problem? Any fix I may missing?

Edit: It's intentional. I didn't know about it and it didn´t occur to me that running at 60Hz could have side effects as I didn´t notice anything wrong in 1809.

From this week's news:

We are excited to announce the V1 will be coming to the DCS: WWII Asset Pack! This is an iconic weapon, and it is a great addition for use with the upcoming DCS: Channel Map. It should be available as a static object when the DCS: Channel Map releases, and later as an operational unit.

So the V1 will be added to the core assets once the Channel Map is out, or as part of the WWII assets pack, or somehow bound to the Channel Map so that it can't be used in other maps...? This is getting confusing.

Edit: Sorry, I missed the obvious and explicit "We are excited to announce the V1 will be coming to the DCS: WWII Asset Pack!" part somehow. Nothing to see here.

Yesterday I tried to replicate in DCS the very strong wind conditions (40/45 km/h with 80 km/h gusts) we are having around here. I didn't realize I was supposed to put the wind speeds in m/s (my fault, it's perfectly labeled), so I ended up with even stronger winds. I thought of enjoying some STOL before going back to the mission editor and fix it.

I was flying the Dora. I managed to take-off and once I was in the air and stable I noticed these changes of the strength of the wind noise as I turned despite keeping my IAS about the same. So I turned on the info bar (Ctrl+Y) to see my ground speed and did some level turns at constant IAS. I could hear it clearly, the strength of the wind noise

Because of the way I play DCS I had this idea that it would be really cool to have a ramp populated with my aircrafts and then select one and start it. Certainly much more attractive than invisible aircrafts on an empty airbase (other than AI's) that only spawn into reality when you select them.

After some googling it turned out that I'm not the first with this idea, and that apparently there is no way of doing it.

Anyway... I thought of using AI aircrafts with the "Uncontrolled" option checked and use a trigger to activate one. I had that working so far. The last bit would be to be able to jump in with RAlt+J, but as it's marked as "Uncontrolled" this option is obviously not available. Bu

I bought the Spitfire these last holidays.

I noticed that the IAS and altimeter needles move a lot with the angle of attack like I've never seen in any other module or other flight simulator. I've been searching in the manual, the forums and reddit and I haven't been able to find any reference to this behavior, what surprises me as it really stands out when you see it.

Anyone knows if this is the intended behavior? Some kind of exaggerated pitot error model?

Edit: I mean, small pitch movements make the needles move in a way I haven't seen before. I'll post a video.

I saw there was an update to MR for SteamVR but the download didn't come up. I checked properties and I wasn't on the beta branch as I thought, so I opted in. After that I realized that motion reprojection wasn't working and I thought "of course, I didn't enable it on the settings file after updating". After enabling it still no motion reprojection. So I enabled the motion reprojection indicator, but the rectangle didn't show up. That's when I remembered that I opted out of the beta branch a few months ago because of this.

Is anyone else having trouble with motion reprojection on the beta branch? I'm afraid that once the beta becomes the main branch I can't get it working anymore, and I rea
