Ahoy pirats!

First time I'll do a tree planting camp this summer. Not planting but as an assistant camp. I have a lot of experience camping outdoor but I don't know what are the conditions in BC (near Prince George). Heard it rains a lot so a tarp, rubber boots would be nice ?

If you have advices, list or anything I'll take it.

Have a good afternoon y'all

New Planter/Rookie Questions

Hey everyone,

Rookie planter here. I'm in Canada for one year and looking to plant some damn trees for this season. I'm available from 1st may until 15th july. So far I have applied to Blue Collar. I'm in the Yukon right now but I'll be in BC in may. Any advice ?

Good day!

Hello Reddit,

If I have model, let's call it Person, and multiple applications (A, B).

Person full model has 3 attributes :

  • Name

  • Address

  • Telephone

Application A uses only Name and Address, but application B uses Address and Telepone.

What's the better practice here ? Implement the full model in both applications ?

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for advice to build a new HTPC. I looked at the FAQ which is really useful but I have some questions left.

I would use this setup as :

- Storage for media. I'm thinking 5TB to be able to do RAID1 (with the possibility to extend that size). I don't need my media to be accessible 24/7, so I'm thinking good ol' mechanical drive. Has anyone experienced with the seagate hybrid hard drive ?

- Frontend to play media on the TV. For videos, it would be HD, not 4K. It would be directly connected to the TV (which is fairly old) and not streamed.

- HDMI switch, I have an old TV and only 2 HDMI port, I would like to switch betw

Hello everyone,

Reading an electronic book here. I have some trouble understanding a simple thing :

Image. It says R3's job is to keep Q3 off when Q2 is off.

What if there were a short instead of R3, Q3's base would be at 15V when Q2 off ?

Thank you.

EDIT : Clarification.

Hello everyone,

I had some trouble lately with an LCD screen (here).

I have several questions :

A/ I've read that it's probably the TCON board's fault, is it plausible ?

B/ In the affirmative, can I fix it myself ? Where should I start to look ?

For those who are interested, here is the service manual.

Thank you.

C/ I found a TCON spare part. By cross checking the reference (6870C-4200C / 6871L-4201B), I've found another cheaper spare part for LG screen, do different manufacturers use the same board ? (EDIT : found that LG Display and Philips

I've been thinking to secure this window from my mom's basement (the other side is the garden). She would like to be able to open it and as you can see, there is the cat door supported by a simple plank of wood. A simple kick in the plank would be sufficient to break it or even worse, the window isn't even locked. https://imgur.com/gallery/SaN0N

Thank you very much

Hello everyone,

Trying to figure out what's wrong with my TV. I've been searching around for a while, so I'll make a repost covering what I've discover until now.

Here's the circuit (part of the power supply, which is supposed to power LED strips).

My first discovery was that instead of 60V, I measured 100VDC on label LED1A, LED3A and 60V (upper part of the image). A kind user from this sub suggested that the problem was that the 60V supply was an unregulated one, thus will be high if unloaded. From there I proceeded to disassemble the panel and tested LEDs one by one (painful process). Everything was working fine, I also tested cables and the connector for dis
