Looking for vials to store compounds (6 mL) and for sending to bio assay (2 mL). Prefer screw caps. For the 6 mL, would be nice if they fit with an adaptor for the rota. Also needing racks for the 6 mL which can fit in a freezer.
Please let me know what you use and where you get them.
Hi Chem Pros, I’m looking for a HPLC or LCMS response factor database. It seems like something which should exist but I’m not having any luck in finding one.
My workplace has a rule that we wear face masks at all times while inside (including the lab). One issue I’ve noticed is that people are wearing their safety goggles on their head rather than over their eyes because the masks cause fogging.
It’s a organic synthesis lab so safety specs are a must but I also agree that not being able to see is a real hazard. Given that the mask policy isn’t negotiable, does anyone have a clever solution to the fogging?
I’m looking to assign the relative stereochemistry of some small but complex molecules using predicted and measured CCS values. Does anyone have any experience with predicting CCS? The methods I’ve tried so far as janky as hell.
I have some very polar molecules I isolate from preparative HPLC (for an idea on their polarity, in 99% methanol, 1% triethylamine they have an Rf of 0.2 on normal phase silica). They come off the prep as TFA salts (they salted at a secondary amine). I’m trying to get through 50 compounds so lyo and freebasing in organic media is too slow, I’m looking to neutralize and extract but I loose a lot of material (35 out of 50 mgs) in the aq phase. I’m going to try salting out next but was looking for some tips on how to improve the recovery?
I’m an organic chemist who is considering looking at origins of life. I always thought this problem was solved, at least that’s the impression my primary school teacher gave me. Now I can read scientific publications, it seems to me we have no friggin’ idea how life began.
Is this true? Does anyone work in this area? I still have three years in my organic synthetically orientated PhD left, is it a good area to post doc in? Is there any hope of making real progress on this problem? Am I actually wrong and the field is pretty established? Either way, give me your thoughts!
Hello, I’m doing a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry and we’ve built hardware that allows users to prepare drug like molecules in an automated fashion. We’ve come to realize that we approach problems from the perspective of our discipline.
I wanted to ask how app developers think about problems and what common philosophies are applied in the field. Any discussion or good sources would be greatly appreciated.
Organic chemist turning to computation. I have a three component combinatorial library building synthesis. I want to produce a big old virtual library using schrodinger but I need to find a ton of actually commercial available aldehydes and amines. Scifinder can filter but it throws up stuff with 1 commercial source which is actually just nonsense. I could spend months doing it by hand, or... any ideas??
