Humans have maxed out a lot of skill trees already.

Fire? Mastered it.

Wheel? Crushed it.

Some of us are still working on the swimming skill tree but we’re like 80% all there.

Flight’s a hard one coz we technically beat it but it’s expensive and we still need to figure out some of the kinks

With AI we’ve basically maxed out computation. From abacus to writing to calculators etc. machines that think? Yeah we’re the best at those.

Perhaps a little too good?

Like the rest of you, I didn’t want to have to make this post and have this discussion, but we should certainly do it before ROLI.com mysteriously and unceremoniously disappears and our devices lock us out because the backend server for ROLI Dashboard with our account logins has been disconnected. Because if ROLI as a company doesn’t recover, that can VERY LIKELY happen, and several hundred thousand dollars of hardware all over the world will suddenly become bricked.

So the next most important question is, how can we ensure these devices live on if ROLI the company moves on?

Fortunately, ROLI has done some work for us by letting us know what other software their devices can work on

I just thought I’d ask directly. What word would you use to describe your response to the white Jesus myth?

My experience is that my Jesus never looked like me, but I was forced to go see him and sing to him once a week for years.

The best way I can explain my feeling is: subjugated. I truly felt like if Jesus was indeed Lord, then we black people in Africa were the lowest subjects of the kingdom. Sure, white people weren’t angels, but they sure looked more like the angels in the books than I did… I felt like there was god, then white people, then me… it was an incredibly sad thought for a child to have.

More recently, I realised, white atheists must have a different story when they come

tl;dr — You can't vote out demons

I was only half way through [this Hank Green vid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWDMXKEZgq0) when I had to stop and draft this post, because what he said is directly applicable to the ongoing debate about the intersection of religiosity, politics, culture, and the state of our country.

This week, US vice president was in an interview being asked what he thought about deep space or whatever, and in a quick soundbite, told the public that he does not believe in aliens; instead, he believes they are demons. Why is this dangerous?

If the problems of the world are caused by demons, then they are not caused by bad ideas or policy failures or greed or the s

I’ve been a fan of Liquid DnB for a long time, particularly for the genre’s utility as a consistent flow of ever evolving sound for casual listening, work, trips, etc.

What drew me in was how some DJs would post 1hr to 4hr mixes that never got old. It amazed me how efficient and thoughtful they were in aligning the tempos, instruments, soundscapes, etc, to make a tapestry of songs that all intermingled and interweaved.

But now, we have Apple’s Automix (and I’m sure many other automated or AI based “seamless DJ” products from who knows where). And I have to admit, it does really really well mixing my saved DnB songs, and mixing the discovered songs in “Create Station from…”
