I've just come across a post that absolutely nails the current attitude of management to AI. Great read.
"The rallying cry of the Great Leap Forward was 超英趕美 — surpass England, catch up to America. Every province, every village, every household was expected to close the gap with industrialized Western nations by sheer force of will. Peasants who had never seen a factory were handed quotas for steel production. If enough people smelt enough iron, China becomes an industrial power overnight. Expertise was irrelevant. Conviction was sufficient.
The mandate today is identical, just swap the nouns. Every company, every function, every individual contributor is expected to close the AI gap. Shi

reddit.comI've discovered Typst recently and consider possibly switching from LaTeX, but I find the documentation sketchy and not containing straight answers to many questions a beginner could have. I've just made it through the tutorials and already there is a thing that bothers me and I can find no answer to by looking at the docs.
Consider this MWE from the "Making a Template" lesson in the official tutorial:
#let template(doc) = [
#set text(font: "Arial")
#show "something cool": [Typst]
#doc
]
#show: template
I am learning something cool today. It's going great so far!
NB, the original font was different, I changed it to make it work without downloading ex
I was just thinking about the possibility of an all out war that will destroy humanity and how it is always linked to a Skynet-like entity that reached the singularity and entered the sentient phase. While not entirely impossible, given the current situation that LLMs seem to produce dumbf*cks at a fast accelerating rate, I think that this is not required. A similar scenario might be reached with a simple LLM that people are overreliant on. Just a Chat GPT version 67 that authoritatively states that a nuclear attack is imminent with a 99,999% certainty and a dumb human pushing the correct button are all we need. To those still thinking that LLMs won't be given access to military installation
This time it's podcasts, straight from Notebook LM with the annoying male and female voices and the female doing "uhhhhm" every 15 seconds. I discovered this when given a suggestion of one "Bedtime astronomy" podcast (I like to listen to science podcasts so I get quite a few of such recommendations). I decided to try it out and was immediately appalled by the impassive AI voices. Awful. And all the while Spotify claims they are getting rid of slop.
Let's say I create a simple square jagged array and want to extract a square part of it (e.g., M[0][0], M[0][1], M[1][0], M[1][1]. What would be the best way to slice along the first index? The below code:
$M=@(@(1,2,3),@(4,5,6),@(7,8,9))
Write-Host $M[0][0..1] # answer = 1 2
Write-Host $M[1][0..1] # answer = 4 5
Produces desired results. But one apparently cannot slice wrt the first index:
Write-Host $M[0..1][0] # answer = 1 2 3
Write-Host $M[0..1][1] # answer = 4 5 6
Write-Host $M[0..1][0..1] # answer = 1 2 3 4 5 6
What is the simplest way to get a desired slice M[0..1][0..1] returning "1 2 4 5"?
Thanks for help.
