I'm about to get back into this after a long hiatus. I dropped out shortly after Odyssey, as it was janky and a bit disappointing. The steady stream of new ships is bringing me back, but I've noticed that the chatter in communities doesn't seem to mention the good ol Chieftain anymore. Has Lakon's finest fallen entirely out of the meta? I ask because while I'm gonna obviously pursue the new ships and fuck around with colonizing and such, I'm curious what my fave ship has become in the game now. Any other Chieftain fans still out there?

My place in the northeast hasn't had Internet since Wednesday morning. Trying to report the outage to make sure it's noted alongside the other outages in the area got me nowhere, I'm curious if other folks are experiencing the same thing?
Hello!
Ok, we spotted a bedbug in our house yesterday. We've hired exterminators that are coming on Sunday. I don't have the ability to get my tanks out of the house. They'll be spraying seclira (which it mentions on the SDS as being specifically toxic to shrimp) into all the crevices/baseboards/etc. Floor level stuff. My shrimp tank is on the top of a rack about 5 feet up. My current plan is to shroud everything up tight and toss in some carbon in the filter to be extra safe and cross my fingers.
How doomed are my beloved bugs?
I just unlocked Mima's dumplings but I forgot how long one lasts- is it all day? Just the dive you buy em on? I know you can only get one per day, but Im curious if I buy one in the morning or afternoon if it'd still be effective for a night dive. Google has failed me.
So, I'm getting a 90 or 110 gallon tank shortly. 48"X18" footprint either way. I'm hoping to make a CA/SA cichlid community in it, heavy on the CA (got fairly hard alkaline water out of the tap, around 7.8pH). FX6 for filtration. Would really like to keep it planted. I'm toying with ideas for inhabitants, and as seems to be typical I've fallen in love with like 4 different types of cichlids that may or may not be able to be housed together under my conditions and I need some more experienced fishkeepers to either shake some sense into me or tweak my figures to something more likely to turn out stable.
Could a pair of Nicaraguan cichlids and a small group of rainbows (1 male and 3 or 4 femal
SO- Our tank has a bit of black algae that I'm keeping more or less under control with some thorough scrubbing and scraping during water changes. But, to help me out and to perhaps even nix it completely (lol, I know, let me dream) I am looking into mystery snails as an add-on to my clean up crew. Previously I had brought on board a SAE but he didn't end up lasting long- my suspicion is he got too stressed by his tankmates. We then brought in a nerite (onion snail variety), and the barbs straight-up stressed it to death in 2 days.
The tank is the 45-ish gallon bowfront that Fluval makes (actual volume something like 46.7 gallons?), with a Fluval 406 for a filter. Lots of java ferns, some an
Hey!
So, I have a little shoal of GloFish Tiger Barbs that my kid wanted. They're great, I love tiger barbs and have had the normal ones before. We've got 7 green and 4 red and 4 purple. The greens and reds pop under the moonlight setting on my tank light very nicely but the purples don't at all. They look great under normal light but they don't flouresce. They've been in the tank about a month now. The purple guys were last to be introduced to the tank and they are the smallest and defs the bottom of the pecking order, and I thought maybe they were just taking time to get adjusted but I'm getting a bit concerned that I'm missing something as we pass the month marker.

During the multi-biome running sequence, Sam slips on the ice... HE'S A FUCKING SNOW LEOPARD!! YES, I KNOW, HE'S THE HAPLESS TECH DWEEB BRAGGART CHARACTER, BUT COME ON! HE'S FROM THE HIMALAYAS, AT LEAST MAKE HIM BUNGLE SOMETHING FROM A BIOME LESS LIKE HIS HOME TURF, RIGHT?! Between the two of them, you'd think a fennec like Kit would be more likely to slip on ice, no? Have him struggle on some sand dune or something. It sticks in my craw for some reason.
Anybody else get some disproportionate rage over minor incongruities in a show they wanna vent here?
I love making them, but they never seem to really be worthwhile. I usually put luxury housing and holotheatres on em but rarely get a sizable pop on the planet unless I force em in.
Anybody got some primo tips on making our own personal Risa?
Hello!
I picked up a cheap Bolva 4k tv second hand last holiday season and it's been treating me as well as can be expected, until last week when the screen stopped turning on. I get sound, the power indicator changes color when I use the remote to power it on or off, Google Home can turn the power on and off via the Chromecast, I tried the flashlight thing and don't think I've got a backlight issue. So, that means one of the boards is probably dead, right? Or it blew capacitors on a board, and as I can't solder that's basically the same boat- swap the board.
Any tips on where to get replacement parts for one of these? Tips or advice on disassembly and reassembly? I've got a pair of idiot
Try as I might, I always come back to some variation on a tech-rush technocracy. With the new "masterful crafters" (I thought no that's what it's called?) civic, I'm really looking forward to that extra boost to engineering so I don't lose as much time upgrading pops. Presuming it's still compatible this might be the time I bite the bullet and try gigastructures too. Anybody else?
As the title says, what are some kid's musicians that rule?
For my wife and I, discovering that Chris Ballew, the singer from the Presidents of the United States of America was also a children's performer under the name Caspar Babypants was a lucky find. He's now one of our go-to dance-party-in-the-kitchen people. He does a great mix of garden variety kids music (done very well) with the occasional flex that he is indeed a rockstar. Standouts are 'Stompy the Bear', 'Free Couch', a lullaby version of the Presidents' 'Monkey River', and a rendition of 'Them Bones'. But all of his stuff is really good, and kiddo classics like 'Ba Ba Black Sheep' are super listenable and reasonably enjoyable ev
I just got curious- any chance that Elite might get a Stadia port in the nearish future? I had dreams of upgrading my PC this year but the miners and the tariffs put the kibosh on that. Considering Stadia's success at hosting demanding titles successfully (one of the only places to have a smooth run of Cyberpunk and it sounds like it might be the same for Outriders), I'd be curious if Frontier might be interested. I got into Stadia sort of accidentally, and have been very impressed so far. EverSpace runs great on it, and I'm sure it'd look a lot better than what my 580 chugs out. Getting HOTAS support might take some doing, and I imagine VR isn't an option yet, but anything to get Elite into
