Being raised JW in the 80s and 90s I remember that I used to hear people saying that they were the true religion because they didn’t hide their history or exaggerate it. The claim was always that history would be told differently depending on which side you were on, but not with JWs and the organisation as they were always so truthful and humble whether the history was good or bad for them.

In light of recent events I have to say what a load of twoddle that is!

Hi r/WindowsServer,

So I'm playing about with Windows Storage Pools. Has anyone else noticed how not only when you create a new Virtual Disk in a Storage Pool that it has to be a minimum of 2GB, but that also when you extend and existing Virtual Disk that it also can only grow by a minimum of 2GB? I noticed this as I first wanted to create a 1GB Virtual Disk and although it accepted my input it created a 2GB one instead. Then I decided to grow it by 1GB, again it grew it by 2GB instead of the 1GB I entered.

Is there a reason it won't let you increase by smaller increments?

Edit: On further investigation it seems to be that the disk volume size ends up being the size you enter multip

I’d like to share this news in my social media feeds. But I feel that most of the sources I can find are on sites that are rather niche and anti-JW/religion as a whole. To avoid it simply being dismissed by my family as “apostate material”, does anyone have mainstream media/news links about the latest on it?

Hey r/youtube,

So I've had a youtube account for a number of years which I used both personally, and for a short while at work too. I later decided that I would setup a new account specifically for work and saving work based videos. I used a separate email address for this new account.

Despite it being a separate account with a unique email address, I swear I am seeing recommendations in my new work focussed youtube account based on the videos I watch in my personal account. I considered that this might in some way be caused by me being signed into the same Google account still, so I cleared all my saved accounts, cookies, caches et al at work. Yet here I am today at work, looking at reco

Hi r/sqlserver,

We all know that cumulative updates contain all the previous hotfix updates. However, with regards individual security updates and hotfixes, is it required that you install each one sequentially, or is it enough just to install the latest one?

For example, for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3 (build 10.50.6000) there follows these updates:

  • Security update MS15-058 (build 10.50.6220)
  • TLS 1.2 support (build 10.50.6537)
  • Intermittent service terminations occur after you install any SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 versions from KB3135244 (build 10.50.6542)

From SP3 build 10.50.6000, do I need to apply MS15-058 before going to the latest build (10.50.6542) or does it not mat

Ok, so I've been out properly for somewhere between 18-20 years. However some of my family are very much still in and despite some of the horror stories I've read here they've always kept in contact and allowed me to visit, etc. I believe this might be because I was never baptised, although I was going through the studies required at one time.

Now, the convention has not long happened and my Auntie was in my street on field service with some other JWs I used to know and they called at my door. She made some comments about the convention and I felt the need to brush up and get things clear in my mind so I can have a fair and informed discussion when she brings it up again. So that's when I c

Hi r/windows10,

I have a Win10 laptop and am using File History to backup my photos, documents, etc to a NAS drive. Now obviously with a laptop being a mobile device I am not always using it at home and therefore not on the same network as the NAS. I have noticed that Windows will keep informing me that "File history drive was disconnected too long" multiple times a day, even when I've only been disconnected for what seems like less than 24 hours. This seems a little over-the-top to me, especially when the files in my folders haven't changed or been added to.

Does anyone know what the actual threshold is before Windows starts its alerts on drive disconnection and is there any way to alter

So I'm looking at buying a new laptop for Windows 10 and my primary purposes will be browsing (youtube, etc), photo-editing, and streaming my Xbox One. For the latter do I need a dedicated graphics card or does it work well with the onboard graphics provided by an Intel i5 processor? Thanks.

Hi r/laptops

So I'm looking for a Windows based laptop as a desktop replacement. I would preferably like a 15" screen and a i5 or i7 processor with 8GB for decent home use. However my top priority is a good Full HD screen. I have looked around and am struggling to find anything in the Windows arena that is comparable in this area to a Macbook or Macbook Pro.

I have looked at the Dell Inspiron 5000 and 7000, both of which are reported to have dim and uninspiring screens.

I have also looked at the Acer Aspire Nitro 15 which comes as close to what I am looking for as I can seem to find but I'm not sure about the styling and very matte screen so would like to know if there is anything else
