I tried renewing my TSA PreCheck online. I just did the online option, paid, etc, and _after_ checking out noticed that it states the online option is only if you have more than 6 months before expiration.

Might it go through (i.e., how hard and fast is the 6 month rule), or should I somehow cancel it, get my money back, and do the non-online version?

Trip planner says I can get from Orange Line Back Bay Station to Green Line B shuttle towards Boston College by walking 0.1 mile and picking up the shuttle at Stuart St @ Dartmouth St, with the first "stop" being Hynes - Commonwealth Ave @ Massachusetts Ave. But I searched pretty hard and couldn't find anything to back up the claim that the B shuttle starts at (or picks up at) Stuart St @ Dartmouth St, apart from the Trip Planner saying it's so. Is there any other way to check this?

My teen daughter has fairly bad anxiety. She can function (attend school, etc), and isn't completely paralyzed by it (has no trouble getting out of bed in the morning). However...it's really affecting her quality of life and my wife and I are worried about her not being able to attend college.

The most common manifestation of the problem is that she is almost incapable of walking to a place (out of doors) on her own. We try to get her to do graduated exercises (exposure therapy of a sort)---basically walk down the block as far as she can go. Our hope is that through this kind of work she'll get better.

The problem with this (as with any exercise we or her therapist gives her) is that w

What do people in cold climates do if their furnace goes out for a number of days?

I live in eastern MA. Last night it got down below 20F. Furnace went out this morning at 6:30 am.

Things are OK (circulation motor is failing and tech thinks he can find a new one today), but what do people do when it's super cold outside and the furnace isn't functioning?

I'm thinking less about the inhabitants (since we can always use a few space heaters, put coats on, etc) and more about the house itself. Mainly water pipes. (Not sure if there are other things can get damaged by sub-freezing cold, but maybe there are.)

Main question: I have an abscess due to a root canal gone bad. (Swelling near root of tooth; X-ray shows radiolucency between that tooth and adjoining one.) Was diagnosed by my dentist; given 8 day course of penicillin and sent to endodontist. Endo examination said it must be the root canal and it cannot be retreated again. Sent back to dental office; seen by periodontist. Peri said I'd need an implant and gave me a script for amoxicillin, but suggested I not take it until 3 days before the appt. Appt is for Dec 20 (for cleaning it out an installing processed bone into jaw).

No pain; can feel swelling with my finger, though, and it doesn't look right in a mirror.

Can I really wait th

I haven't been feeling well recently. Coincidentally, I have some swelling at the base of a retreated root canal that's covered by a crown.

Went to my dentist today on an emergency basis. X-ray showed an abscess. Next have to go back to endo. (Was retreated in 2018)

What systemic symptoms can an abscess cause? I'm a 60 yo male in pretty good health, with some minor health issues (moderate sleep apnea treated by cpap, some anxiety/depression, mild prostate issues) that lead me to not feeling great much of the time. But this past week or so has been much worse. Is is possible that bacteria leaking out of the abscess could make me feel worse w/o causing me to have a fever? (More fatig

(Am on 20 mg for anxiety/depression, though only decreased dose a couple days ago from 25 mg.)

Anyone have experience with escitalopram causing or worsening AFib? There's some discussion about it in the medical literature, but most of the cardiotoxicity stuff is about QT prolongation/Torsades de Pointes.

(American here.). Assuming I've decided to use a pass instead of buying separate tickets, is there any reason to favor the britrail pass over the eurail global pass? When I checked prices for my party, the eurail pass was definitely cheaper.

I live in New England; bought a house about 10 years ago that came with a high efficiency gas furnace and central AC.

The system is now 25 years old. It works fine.

Have a contract with an HVAC company for twice-yearly inspections. Tech came out yesterday for spring inspection (check AC). Near the end he said everything was working fine, but that the system was 25 years old.

He mentioned that the old AC is problematic because of changes in what refrigerants are allowed and produced. I'm not too worried about that.

The more worrisome thing is he said the firebox [?] could crack and leak carbon monoxide.

I understand that that's more likely with age, but how likely is it? Is it "pr

r/Constipation•

I'm not constipated right now. Rather my wife had minor abdominal surgery.

In the discharge papers, it said to take colace 100mg twice/day (presumably to prevent constipation; they say to take laxatives if you get constipated).

What I'm confused by is that I thought recently studies have shown that colace doesn't really do anything, and was being removed from drug lists by hospitals all over the world.

Metamucil supposedly might interfere with the absorption of drugs. E.g. on the bottle it says to take it 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking any drugs.

If you take Metamucil multiple times a day, and take drugs throughout the day, this makes things complicated.

Does anyone have a sense how serious this issue with interfering with absorption is?

r/lexapro•

I believe I've seen people saying Lexapro worked for them, but it took "months" (like 8 months) on a given dose.

Has anyone else seen this? I thought the standard claim for SSRIs is that you should see a response in 6-8 weeks.

(Not sure if it could be a matter of treatment for depression vs anxiety.)

My own situation: I have anxiety and depression, which I'd describe as moderate. Slowly upping the dose. Have been at 20 mg for maybe 25 days now. Not seeing much of an effect.
