TDLR: sexism lol

Labubus and Pokemon card packs are both basically blind box-style items that kids and adults both like, but I find it interesting that the one with a majority male audience has never, for example, been asked about its contribution to plastic in landfills while the one with a majority female audience must answer for its environmental footprint in perpetuity. Issues like financial irresponsibility, the infantilization of adult interests, toxic collecting culture, it's weird to see both have these as features but how they are perceived and reacted to could not be more different. The audience for one is berated into recognizing a burden of social responsibility while the other

TLDR: HEMA bad bad, kinda bad, or probably likely somewhat bad but you'll be fine most likely maybe?

Tangentially related rant about society:

I feel like in the past few years, certain words (like "toxins", "chemicals", "microplastics" etc.) have become buzzwords which can detract from the power associated with truly dangerous substances/exposure. For example, microplastics are obviously not great, but I've seen a lot posts on social media where someone is, for example, eating something from a plastic bowl, and a lot of the comments are just something in the vein of "holy microplastics, be careful" etc. They could be eating a literal burger made out of palm oil and corn syrup, but all conc

Hello, I won't be able to visit family out of state this year for Thanksgiving so I'm looking for volunteer opportunities on Thanksgiving Day, but it seems like there's nothing left to sign up for on New York Cares. I am working the other days of the week/weekend so it would just be for the 28th (people often mention volunteering for other days during the week since so many people try to volunteer on the holiday's exact date, which makes sense but just wanted to throw it out there that I can't this time)

Any ideas before I start cold calling non-profits/churches? I'm most interested in homeless outreach/helping with meals for the day but down to assist anywhere I might be of help (maybe eve

Yesterday I was walking past M&J Trimming and was sad to see they're having a going out of business sale (I immediately swooped in like a vulture). Everything is on sale right now starting at around 30% off, but for some reason besides buttons and ribbons, they also evidently have a massive supply of period panties for no apparent reason, and they're heavily discounted at the moment. I always wanted to try them to see if they will stop me from ruining nice bed sheets but I am a cheap fuck and didn't want to cough up $30 for one pair that might not even work. The brand is called Shemsi and I got two different styles in medium. They seem like pretty solid/standard quality for something like

We all know why it's a good idea to keep our consistently-selling niches a secret, but I thought it would be fun to talk about some now-dead niches that worked for us.

I had my most successful month this year with a topic I don't see ever becoming relevant again, so I don't mind sharing: it was a commemorative shirt for a relatively, but not even that well-known, bird that died in my city. I was a T25 and went to T100 after selling 15 of this shirt in 3-4 week lol.

The eclipse shirts did not sell at all.

I was definitely approved for this semester (even talked to someone on the phone to confirm out of paranoia) and I’m still good on the HESC website, but every time I’ve asked Columbia since the add/drop period ended they say they haven’t been issued anything for any students yet and basically to shut up and stop asking (only three times total since January now, but they always come across as super condescending tbh lol)

It didn’t take this long last semester so I was expecting it mid-February as per the timeline they gave me at the end of January. I still owe the remaining $220 of my tuition but now also my poor hardworking single mother $400 she loaned me for cover last month’s rent 😭
