Air France has a PAR -> Osaka (KIX/ITM) -> TOK ticket that is considerably cheaper than PAR-KIX.

My final destination is TOK, but I don't mind staying a few days in Osaka, and would much rather get a high-speed train that do a 10h layover that requires me to change airport (KIX and ITM are quite far apart): even with train ticket, this is still cheaper than a direct PAR-TOK flight by some margin.

What are the odds that skipping the ITM-TOK leg on my outbound flight, which is a JAL codeshare, will result in the cancellation of my AF return ticket?

So, I thought this was a mere Stupid Question unworthy of its own post, but turns out, based on the mostly off-topic/irrelevant replies, that this isn't as stupid as I thought… So here goes:

  1. We all know (from dutifully reading through our Jp Driver's ed manuals) that "official speed limit on Jp expressways is 90[/100] km/h" (with some variations depending on which highway)

  2. Absolutely every single expressway I've been on, has near constant signed reminders to stay under 80, very often 70 (not to mention inside Tokyo itself, where 60 is quite common). To be clear, these signs do not have any mentions of applying

[bit of an odd request for this sub, but considering how Japan-specific USEN is, this seems a better option than more general electronics subs.]

Flat (/building?) has a USEN 440 system that plays music through a bunch of ceiling-mounted speakers: https://imgur.com/a/b7tFX1A

My hope is that there's a somewhat easy way to rewire it, so I can hijack the audio out, and plug a Bluetooth amp instead of this apex of Showa technology.

So far, however, the wiring looks a bit opaque (I'm not even 100% certain this is where the audio cables run through)…

Has anyone ever played with that kind of electronics? Any recommendation/opinion/tips?

Am I the only one for whom all tile IDs end in 1,3,7 or 9?

Altogether, the sequence of tile IDs is rather intriguing: not random (I think), not perfectly uniform, but no obvious pattern (aside from the last digit) that I can spot…

I can't help but wonder if the tile ID might give out info on the tile (orientation? position in the final puzzle? presence of a monster?)

Or have I been staring at digits too long and this is a meaningless artefact of input-data generation?

Update: indeed, the answer is that tile IDs are all primes

A friend has inherited some small house in the arse-end of Chiba (not a kominka or anything: just a regular cube of ugly 80s concrete). The thing is in poor shape and plain worthless. Real estate agents aren't really interested at any price (and probably couldn't sell), and meanwhile the occasional falling rooftile is threatening to cause damage to the neighbour's property.

She asked local gov if there was a way to donate the thing, to which they answered a polite "no thanks"…

Does anyone know of a standard way to get rid of unwanted property in Japan? Is she basically saddled with it, supposed to shell out for a full tear-down,

I currently have a set-up consisting of an RPi4 running Dietpi+Kodi, that I mostly control through web or UpnP interfaces (it's plugged to an HDMI projector and the sound system, but no LCD screens).

I am working on putting together a second RPi4, this time with a small touchscreen, to use as a mural tablet in my kitchen. Its purposes being:

  1. Control (audio) playback on the main Kodi server (/display currently playing info)
  2. Stream and play videos to the touchscreen that are stored on the main Kodi server (ideally with a decent interface to browse content)
  3. Display basic weather/news when not in use
  4. [Ideally] Allow some rudimentary web browsing (eg youtube videos etc)
  5. [Ideally
