So whatever the cataclysmic event was, the centre couldn't prevent it by rewinding Earth like they had done many times in the past. Eventually they realized that Earth was going to be annihilated and the centre would be too due to an impact from a piece of Earth, so they left to live through the disaster one final time. You (Aria) stayed and went through the whole course to rewind Earth one last time, but since you had to manually fix the Entropy device at the end, you got rewinded too. The thing is, since the cataclysmic event was unavoidable, the loop kept repeating over and over, but since Earth was rewound each time, the centre didn't get hit and thus kept existing and decaying, which is
