Welcome to r/MetroBoston, a subreddit for the city of Boston and the surrounding area - inside the 128 beltway, but especially the core cities and towns bordering Boston! Examples: Arlington, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Malden, Medford, Milton, Quincy, Newton, Somerville and Watertown.

DO NOT POST QUESTIONS HERE. [Questions such as "What's the best ____?" or especially tourist questions should go in r/AskMetroBoston.](https://reddit.com/r/AskMetroBoston/) First offense: one week ban. Second offense: permanent ban.

Please review Reddit Etiquette and reddit rules before posting, commenting, or voting, if you have not recently. Report comments or submissions that violate those rules or clearly are not following reddiquette, and explain why.

Personal attacks/insults, trolling, bigotry, and other abusive behavior will result in one warning, followed by a permanent ban. If you disagree with these policies, feel free to post in another Boston-related subreddit.

Avoid links which are

not primary sources
require registration to view
display interstitial sign-ups/advertisements
are behind soft (ie X free articles per Y period) or hard paywalls unless they are the sole (or noticeably better) source for a story or information.

Self posts are encouraged if the topic is likely to gain widespread coverage or is developing (ie, so other, or more updated, sources can be provided - thus consolidating discussion on a particular subject in one post.)

The goal here is quality discussion and community. Does the comment add value to, or encourage, the discussion? Is it insightful? Well-reasoned? Make you think? Present a different perspective? Upvote/downvote based on quality.
