Listen Notes is a podcast search engine that allows people to search around 2.7 million podcasts and more than 110 million episodes by people or topics. We also provide a podcast API for developers to use, which is called Listen API. It has become a core part of our business: listennotes.com/api

In this article, I’ll share with you the journey of building this API business, the technology behind it, and hopefully you can learn one thing or two and build your own API business in the future.

Please note that I use “I” and “we” interchangeably in this article :)

APIs have been around for over 20 years, with 200 million currently in existence and 1.5 billion more to be built in the next 8 years. However, the process of designing, coding and testing APIs is still outdated.

Our goal was to create a platform that empowers Product Managers to design APIs without requiring extensive knowledge of JSON or YAML.

In today's world, B2B integrations rely heavily on APIs, but existing tools are either too developer-centric or hosted solutions.

We believe there is potential for Product Management to lead integrations that matter for customers, users, and partners. However, product managers must work with various stakeholders who may not understand the nuances

Hello, people of Reddit!

There are thousands of videos out there teaching you how to build APIs, but none go in-depth with making those APIs available to the public.

I've created a video that starts from the beginning and goes in depth. We'll go over the thought process of coming up with an API idea, and then we're going to build it. In this video, you'll learn how to build a custom Amazon Scraper API - that was only my idea, but you can think of something entirely different you're passionate about. Once we've built and deployed the API, you'll learn how to sell it online and build a business around it

Hey guys, after a long standing battle with procrastination I've finally completed my first blog post on medium! If you're a beginner or a person who wants to get into the software field and wants to know what an API is then this post is for you!

P.S. please feel free to give any feedback or questions about it. Thanks!😁

Hello, I have an idea for a website that extrapolates and aggregates data from county websites, coupled with some other open source data to display said information.

Just FYI I have a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering, but honestly that means shit as I was inly required to take one entry-level course called Intro To C. I bring this up, so you all know my current level of knowledge.

So I am looking for tutorials, etc. or or something that's easy (or somewhat easy) to build. I love PKMs like Notion, Coda, etc. and playing with them, but I am not sure if it's even remotely compatible with what I need.

If you have some time you might check out https://spacetraders.io which is a space trading mmo with REST endpoints for buying and controlling ships, navigating and placing market orders. Basically a buy low / sell high economy game but you can automate everything since it's all REST endpoints.

It might be fun if you need to learn a new language and want something fun to practice against. We do weekly leaderboards to see who made the most credits. Lots of activity on our Discord about automation and making clients in various languages / frameworks.

Check it out and let me know if you have any feedback!

Hi people,

I've been working on this API for a while: https://rapidapi.com/movie-of-the-night-movie-of-the-night-default/api/streaming-availability/details

As the title says it enables you to query what's available to watch on 20 streaming services (including Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, AppleTV+, Disney+, HBO Max and many others) across 60 countries. It includes all the necessary information such as IMDb ids, ratings, TMDb ids, backdrop images, posters, cast/director info, description of the shows, if the show is leaving a service then the projected leave date etc.

I also offer it way

Hey everyone,

I've just shutdown my company which leveraged ML/AI as the backbone tech. This now means I have quite a bit of models sitting around, not being used. I'm a big believer in FOSS and I'd like to allow the community to build around the work that I've done. Before I go all in and build out an API platform, I'd like to get a feel for people's appetite for a free API service before I put too much work into something like that. The models include functionality around

  • keyword extraction
  • sentiment analysis
  • face detection
  • age classification
  • gender classification
  • object recognition
  • image classification
  • text summarization
  • pose classification
  • action recognition
