If you have some time you might check out https://spacetraders.io which is a space trading mmo with REST endpoints for buying and controlling ships, navigating and placing market orders. Basically a buy low / sell high economy game but you can automate everything since it's all REST endpoints.

It might be fun if you need to learn a new language and want something fun to practice against. We do weekly leaderboards to see who made the most credits. Lots of activity on our Discord about automation and making clients in various languages / frameworks.

Check it out and let me know if you have any feedback!

Hey webdev, first time posting and just a quick shoutout that this sub is an awesome source of motivation for getting into web development! I love the advice you guys give to all of us newbies trying to break into the field.

I was hoping you guys could recommend some projects on github for me that I can go through in my spare time to digest and get good exposure on PHP best practices. I've found a few good ones, but most are so large and complex that I get a bit overwhelmed at times. I'm just starting to grasp the idea of MVC frameworks but still going through tutorials as I move forward. If you know any small projects that are well-coded and commented, I'd greatly appreciate a link!

Let me know what you think of this $600 build with gaming in mind to start. It's definitely a budget PC, but I hope to upgrade several parts over the next year. I went with the i5 over the i3 for more threads because of future video editing, and I believe the 2500k offers better OC potential for gaming, although I won't OC right away. I decided the Z77 was the way to go with the Mobo and went with the best bang for my buck GPU. I decided I like the look and price of the case, and landed on 600W for my PSU. I'm not sure if I would need more watts eventually, but at least it is modular and hopefully reliable. Just wondering if I am missing anything obvious? I'm really trying to keep it anywher

Any advice on a build that starts decent (Skyrim Ultra settings) that will also be upgradable in the future? I have the peripherals and Windows already. I'm thinking that Intel is the way to go as they seem to be more reliable.

I also do video editing on the side, but not my main focus right now for this rig.

This is my current direction so far, and wondering if moving down to the i3 for now would be a better short-term solution. Some obvious gaps are the GPU and case. I haven't decided yet how much to invest to start.

  1. Expand to key choke points & strong long term systems.

  2. Only colonize planets that can maintain happiness and growth when you are just starting out.

  3. All new systems should focus on growth. Once you cap growth, switch to production, science or dust depending on the strengths of your system.

  4. Grab the heroes that can get +20 food, +20 production and +20 happiness to jump start new systems. Clone them if you are Horatio.

  5. Build kamikaze ships for defense early game. Equip them with just enough missiles to blow up a ship without flak. They are cheap to produce and destroy anything lacking flak.

  6. Send out sacrifice ships to check for when an AI is switching their weapons or
