I remember the early days of dating. Lots of dreaming, lots of laughter, tons of hope, plans, and ambition, and not two particles of good sense... Maybe you can relate. One of the MANY things I messed up was focussing on the externals of life, and missing the internal changes needed.
I thought I was all grown up at the ripe age of 21, and now all that was left was the finding of a suitable female accessory, also known as a wife.
One day my dear lady brought me this poem. I liked it, but was untroubled by the content and implications. I was an idiot.
Here's the poem, so you can read it - and maybe you WON'T be an idiot. ... By Mary T. Lathrap (1838-1895)
A WOMAN'S ANSWER TO A M
" We know porn doesn't satisfy. We find a favorite actress, and then we need a new one. Why? Did they get old, gain weight, become less skilled? No. They are ageless in their digital fashion. What happens (at least in part) is that we had a temporary affair with them and the infatuation faded. We admit this. Now here is the important part. It's not the physical act of masturbation that became less. It was still your hand touching your flesh. What died was the emotional connection to that actress. So in our marriages we often blame our wives for not being as exciting, as attractive, and as aggressive as the paid harlot. But the lack of excitement is not primarily a physical attra
WILL MY WIFE EVER BELIEVE I AM SORRY?
The short answer is…it's the wrong question! Our wives usually believe we are sorry for our actions, motives, etc. What they struggle to believe is that we get how they feel. Obviously, each lady is unique, but let me give a baseline to build on.
We use the word betrayal, but it sometimes gets a bit dull for us because of its familiarity. Change it and think traitor, John Walker, Benedict Arnold, etc. This is sometimes a word for us, but it's a daily reality for our ladies, who are choosing to live with someone who is their own personal version of Osama Bin Laden. Wrap your head around that in its entirety for a minute. Th
Hey all.
Starting January 23 and 24th I will be launching my Learning to Run beta program. Calls will be scheduled as needed between 8am and 5pm each day, Pacific (Vancouver) time.
The course will consist of emailed homework, plus a 60 min call once a week with a group of like minded men.
As well, I am opening up for personal phone /email/ text mentoring with those who want it.
There is no cost for either of these. Everything is free. I only ask that you consider investing in this ministry to enable me to help others.
1 Corinthians 9:18 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the
I've been thinking a lot over the last days about my purpose.
It's nice being accepted in polite church society again. I've missed the community, the comraderie, and the support that friends bring, and it feels good to see that starting again. It would be easy to slip into a mentor role for the many nice people who basically have it together.
But it's hard to be normal. I've seen the dark side in all its fierceness and experienced the carnage and pain of a life lived with secret sin. I've lived in fear, afraid the shame would crush me before freedom found me.
And when I see the smiling masses at church I wonder how many of them need a rescue. How many need recovery. And how many
The Bee
I wrote this a few years ago in early recovery. ...
Last night, I stepped on my wife's heart. Unintentionally, but it hurt her. She fought back hard and I'm still bleeding inside today.
Today I stepped on a bumble bee in our room and it stung me hard. REALLY hard. Incredible foot pain.
I sent the bee outside to it's freedom because it was a natural reaction to sting under crushing pressure. But somehow, I have a tough time forgiving the sharp words of a wife who has suffered 20 years under the crushing weight of my sinful character.
Then the Lord brought Jonah and his gourd to mind. And I paraphrase...
"Shall I have pity on a bee and not my wife? " It's foolish. I'
In my time assisting people find sexual freedom, I have found that there are several main triggers for a relapse.
For me, the unholy trinity of lonely, stressed, or bored seem to be the biggest.
What do you think are your biggest triggers?

I might be kicking off a small group for Christian men in recovery from infidelity/porn in the next couple of weeks, it's a trial run.
My goal is to provide a clear spiritual path in recovery along with practical ideas for rebuilding trust.
If you or so you know might be interested, drop me a line. The cost is minimal for this trial group.

Eph 6:10-
Put on the Whole armour of God... What soldier goes to war in partial kit?
It is a sign of our indifference to the spiritual that we put so little preparation into our armour.
For a physical battle, we would prepare, train, and seek help to make sure our kit was in order. But for the daily spiritual war we haphazardly bolster the disciplines we are good at, we avoid sweat, and we indignantly resent anyone inspecting or commenting on the condition of our armour. It's folly, and it is supremely evident that we do NOT take the enemy seriously.
Every sin is preventable. Every wound of the enemy is a reflection of our failures to fight the good fight of faith, for the armour
Something I wrote a while back.
Written June 28, 2018
I have never felt so alone in my entire life, and I have always been alone. There has always been a huge gulf between me and others. Even in laughter, the heart has been sorrowful, but in that silence and emptiness, there was the illusion of friendship.
I had taken comfort in that illusion, like a child with an imaginary friend.
Reality has hit hard- naked, stark and raw, unsoftened by any illusions. And that reality is far more desolate than I feared. It seems I can count every second. Hours of silence pass before the next tick of the watch. Often my labored breathing is the only normal sound I hear. Everything else is distorted. I can barely hear the Spirits vo
