Hahaha! Yes. First week back for me last week after 15 weeks off. I was really glad I documented everything so well for the folks who had to perform my key responsibilities while I was gone! After a year, I can only imagine...
Good luck!
Are you in Norway or Canada or elsewhere? I've heard they have 12 month maternity leave. In the States we only get 12 weeks max.
Australia. We get 18 weeks of minimum wage paid by the government, and my employer offers 28 weeks at half pay. We are also entitled 12 months unpaid leave.
Wow!
'Merica Fuck Us!
I have to work at my job for 12 consecutive months before I am even entitled to FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) which protects my job while I am taking time off for a medical condition (giving birth). And even then, it only holds my job for me for 12 weeks max.
Employer offers absolutely no pay. I can collect on Short Term Disability though which is half of my pay for 6 weeks. So 3 full weeks of pay. And I have to return back to work 8 weeks after giving birth or else they can fire me.
for those of you wondering, i'll just leave this here. basically, the US is awful for maternity leave. everyone else has it really great. makes my blood boil.
Good luck, Im sure it will all come back to you----eventually ;)
I went back a month ago after 12 months off. I know exactly how you feel.
I go back in one week. I figure since my coworkers have managed to keep things running for a year without me it will take some time before I actually have a full workload.
Unless they have been counting the hours to your return, lol! People could not wait to hand things back to me. I was really hoping that they would ask to keep at least some of the tasks. Alas...
12 months!? Where are you from? I only get 6 weeks...
I only got 6 weeks as well! I need to find a place with 12 months! I was so not ready to go back after 6 weeks. ( I was even back part time at 4 weeks!)
Probably Canada....
Australia. It's 12 months unpaid, but you can get 18 weeks of minimum wage, and my employer offers 28 weeks at half pay.
Oh man I wanted to go back part time in September for this reason but they changed how they do Parental leave in August which would've punished me for working a few hours a week. They just changed it back last week (or give you the option to change back) and I'm trying to find out if I can do part time now or I have to wait till the date they gave in January to start. UGH!!!
Wow.. I get 4 weeks, unpaid.. I'm using my two weeks of vacation time to get me through.. I need to move I think..
Oh man, I feel this. Took twelve months mat leave, then quit my job and went to school for another 6 months and found a new job after 2 months. Re-entering the job force is intimidating!
12 months....you are so lucky!
