[1383] The Thing in the Lake

First time poster here! I wrote this short horror story recently and I'm hoping to get some feedback on how successful the horror element is (and how I can improve it!) along with general critiques on the prose and characters.

Blurb: Charles has never had a single accident in all his years leading Dark Kayak Tours on Lake Tryon, famous among horror junkies for claiming the lives of twelve boy scouts in the 60s. But today, something strange lurks beneath the muddy waters.
