Well see you next Season

In all seriousness that should count as revictimization. Dees always bring out the most emotional side to me, cause they always make our team look useless.

Love to hear your thoughts.

Key points for me

  1. Bevo needs to go(As soon as possible)
  2. Team looks so lazy on transitional defence
  3. Not a single player except for Ed Richards and Libba should walk off those grounds with their heads held high.

Geez some of you drop your heads pretty easily, it's round 1 against what will likely be a top 4 team, our forward line has played one practice match with each other and we lost our 1st key back during the game.

I still think our team is easily good enough to play finals and I'm keen to see us play more footy.

This dude is notorious for it

Yeah not sure why he watches footy at all tbh, doesn't sound like he ever enjoys it.

I actually think he had an Adelaide flair a couple of years ago, not 100% sure though.

Counterpoint:

  • Bont looks healthy and moving well.
  • Run off half back is good.
  • Sam Darcy will cause headaches for the opposition, he missed the soccer goal in the square but had great 2nd and 3rd effort.
  • Bruce in the backline was solid.
  • Libba doing Libba things.
  • McRae still doing McRae things.
  • English is more competitive than ever, especially around the ground.
  • I said in the game thread, Smith took a massive hit and bounced up and continued to have an influence.

So, not a great outcome, but the potential was there. Personally I feel the forward line will benefit from more cohesion and that will alleviate pressure back down the ground.

Edit: Do you think Brisbane are writing off their season?

Bont definitely looked solid in the first half, but was effectively shut out of the game after Halftime. the rest of the points are completely valid and help to put the loss in perspective.

My main nuffy theory is that we don't play so good on the MCG, Demons spread in the first quarter really made it hard for us. I wish we had more games at the G

Counterpoint to counterpoint.

. Bonts easy miss cost us all momentum. He struggles with set shots. If he ever sorted that out he would win multiple Brownlows. . Daniel off half back was horrendous. Williams is still a nervous nelly with the ball. . Sam Darcy is 3 years away from being a force (he will be one though) . Bruce was solid but is not a natural back man. He is not the answer. . English getting smashed in the ruck throw ins. He is not as good a ruckman as we think. Good ruckman will continue to dominate him and we will get scored against heavily when our mids put on no pressure. . Smiths disposal has not improved at all. Is he even being coached? . Libba….yep he’s a champ. Our. OST important player. Here we can agree. . McRae…-agree again.

Counterpoint the counterpoint the counterpoint: I don't know really, I just wanted to keep making counterpoints.

3

Hmmm. That’s something to consider.

2

Melbourne down 4 very good players and yet we still got smashed.

Same problems every year…nothing changes. Bevo needs to go. I hope he realises this and resigns soon.

Why is sport the only profession that we accept mediocrity? If I dished up lazy performances every day, or unable to complete simple tasks like kicking from 25m out, I would be sacked. But when it comes to sport, we just accept that what happens…

4

I have worked with so so so many mediocre people who were never sacked

Our best chance to beat Melbourne and we were completely outclassed. A persisting lack of defence kills us year after year.

Not a great start to the year.

If if if if…..

Why the fuck was it not done for Round 1. Surely Bevo has the team primed. Have absolutely no faith in the coach anymore. Our list is quality and doesn’t have too many glaring deficiencies any more. To turn out that insipid performance was breathtaking.

I agree that sucked, but some fans are viewing this through a purely emotional lens. Which is alright, I'm not knocking em. But let's not forget at halftime we were taking it to the dees, forcing turnovers and forcing them to play our style of footy. We will learn from this (Or at least I hope we will).

If I had to have a critique it would be our inability to ever win a marking contest. Aswell as Naughton goalkicking.

It's round 1 guys..Chill Out

Duddus•

Honestly it depends on Lobb and Naughton for me this year. If those two can kick 100 plus combined we have a good year.

2
Franklinsleftnut•

Naughton’s gonna need to kick 70 then. Lobb’s only ever had 3 20+ goal seasons.

Don’t throw the Bevo out with the bathwater after the first game, cobber

5 months after the pathetic capitulation against Freo and we dish up that. I'm just glad that I didn't have a chance to get invested in the club this year. I'll still follow the footy as a neutral but don't think I'll bother with the Dogs games this year. They are a truly pathetic team to watch since the end of 2021. No heart, just uninspiring and ugly football. There's at least 13 sides who are more enjoyable to watch at present. I don't think this iteration of the Western Bulldogs are getting anywhere. The only player who might be part of their next flag tilt is Sam Darcy imo.

I reckon we can beat any team except for Melbourne. Their backmen, ruckman and midfield got us absolutely covered.
