The story of us
My love, do you remember when we first met?
Your eyes lingered on mine, a quiet proclamation,
"let me untangle your soul".
And you did.
Ours remains a gentle love, akin to the beach midwinter.
Wind batters the sand dunes and we pull our bodies in a little closer.
The faint taste of salt on our lips, noses colored vermilion.
As months transpire to years,
our book has become weathered with use.
The pages crinkle with each turn as I eagerly read ahead.
There is a quiet comfort in a love so pure.

god this poem is so good i want to cry. i absolutely adore poems that utilize heavy imagery and i loved your use of it in this: especially the lines "Wind batters the sand dunes and we pull our bodies in a little closer. / The faint taste of salt on our lips, noses colored vermilion." i also like how the "wind batters..." line relates to the, "our book has become weathered with use" line (or at least to me they relate) as the imagery of a wind-battered sand dune translates to a weathered book. beautiful imagery, beautiful poem, love is beautiful.
Thank you so much for this sweet comment <3
