Bio: Wulfgar started his life in the north as the flag bearer of the barbarian Tribe of the Elk. He was bested in the assault on Ten-Towns by Bruenor who decided his punishment would be five years and a day of service. Bruenor grew to love the tall barbarian, eventually seeing him as an adopted son. At the end of his service, Drizzt Do'Urden to taught Wulfgar the ways of combat and Bruenor crafted a mighty warhammer, named Aegis-fang. This magical warhammer bears the symbols of three of the Dwarven Gods: Moradin, Clangeddin, and Dumathoin. It is specifically attuned to Wulfgar and magically returns to his hand upon telepathic command.
Basic Attack: Barbarian Smash - Wulfgar smashes the nearest group of enemies with his warhammer
-
Base Attack Type: Melee
-
Base Attack Speed: 4.5 seconds
-
Base Critical Hit Chance: 20%
-
Base Critical Hit Damage: 100%
-
Self-DPS Buff: 6.67e15%
Ultimate: TEMPUS! - Shouting the name of his deity, Wulfgar tosses his warhammer, Aegis-fang, at the most distant enemy, dealing damage to and stunning all enemies in a line for 10 seconds.
- Base Ultimate Cooldown Time: 340 seconds
Health Upgrades: 1.16e05
##Passive Abilities
Critical Hit: - Wulfgar's base chance to Critical Hit is 20% and his Critical Hits also stun all affected enemies for 5 seconds.
Citizen of Icewind Dale: - Wulfgar can be used in any Icewind Dale campaign adventure or variant, even if he would not normally be available to be used due to variant or patron restrictions.
##Interesting Abilities
King of the Elk Tribe: Increases the Health of all Champions by 25% of Wulfgar's Max Health.
- No upgrades
Clangeddin's Will: Any time an enemy is stunned, Wulfgar increases the damage of all Champions in the formation by 50%, stacking multiplicatively, capping at 50 stacks, and lasting until the area is changed.
- 6.09e17% at 50 stacks after upgrades; Supported by an Item
Gaar's Note: This is his main buff and ramps up over time on a level, but it's a solid buff once it's at cap.
Dumathoin's Will: If Wulfgar stuns a boss, he gains Temporary HP based on the Boss' percent health remaining (at 100% health remaining, he gets 200% max HP shield).
- No upgrades
Gaar's Note: I wish this went up as the boss' health went down, but it's the opposite which isn't quite as great. Bosses do more damage as time goes on (and hopefully their health is going down during that time) which means you'd want the biggest shield later on, ideally.
Hammer of the Hall: Your formation gains 1 Mithral Hall stack. Wulfgar increases the damage bonus of Clangeddin's Will by 100% for each Mithral Hall stack you have, stacking multiplicatively.
- No upgrades - Supported by Feats
Gaar's Note: Mithral Hall stacks make a solid buff even better. Feats make it so even if he's by himself he can get a decent bonus.
Smash 'n Grab: If Wulfgar attacks an armor-based enemy but doesn't remove a piece of the armor, he increases the damage of all Champions in the formation by 200% stacking multiplicatively up to 5 times. Stacks reset on area change.
- 2,300% (??) after upgrades - Supported by an Item
Gaar's Note: More buffs when Wulfgar won't be removing armor as you push anyway? Sure. Sign me up.
Global DPS Buff: 7.87e06%
##Specializations
Heavy Blows: Additively increases all Champions' critical hit chances by 10%
Gaar's Note: If you're running other Champs that trigger things based on crits, this is for you.
Flag Bearer: Increases the effect of Clangeddin's Will by 100% and only 50% of the stacks are lost on area change.
Gaar's Note: This is solid way to get an OK damage boost but keep your damage more consistent from area to area.
Moradin's Will: Increases the damage of the Companions of the Hall by 100% and all of the Companions of the Hall Champions are available to be used if Icewind Dale is the current campaign, even if they do not currently qualify based on variant or patron restrictions.
Gaar's Note: If you're trying to get stuff done in Icewind Dale and want a consistent crew to do it with, use this. Otherwise, the damage bonus alone isn't worth it since the Companions like crits.

#Formation & Mission Information
In a Time Gate, you will be given two basic adventures and one variant to complete, along with being granted access to Free Plays. They all use a formation that holds 10 Champions. They have a Champ-specific format that I've done my best to re-create below.
| Back Row | Fifth Row | Fourth Row | Third Row | Second Row | Front Row |

New Player Formation & Specializations:
While I recommend learning to build your own formations, here's a set of starter formations for brand new players to use while they get the hang of things. Anyone with other options should check that link for how to figure out how to make the best of them. You can also ask for help in the #formations channel in the official Discord.
| Back Row | Fifth Row | Fourth Row | Third Row | Second Row | Front Row |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minsc - Humanoids | |||||
| Asharra - Dwarves & Elves | NA | ||||
| Hitch - Charismatic | Calliope - College of Valor | Jarlaxle - Leader of Bregan D'aerthe | |||
| Celeste - Life Domain | Nayeli - Oath of Devotion | ||||
| Bruenor - Battle Master | |||||
| NA |
This formation is for the first couple of runs where you're just not going to get enough Gold to get everyone on the field, let alone level people up into their power curves. At this point, Jarlaxle is focusing on being your Primary DPS while everyone else is set up to support him.
The following formation is for once your Hitch starts doing more damage than your Jarlaxle. You can find this out by pulling Asharra out of the formation and swapping Jarlaxle and Hitch around to see whose damage is better. If Hitch is higher, next run change Asharra's Spec to buff Hitch instead.
| Back Row | Fifth Row | Fourth Row | Third Row | Second Row | Front Row |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Asharra - (Swap) | |||||
| Jarlaxle - Leader of Bregan D'aerthe | Makos - Dark Blessing | ||||
| Minsc - Humanoids | Calliope - College of Valor | Hitch - Charismatic | |||
| Celeste - Life Domain | Nayeli - Oath of Devotion | ||||
| Bruenor - Battle Master | |||||
| Tyril - Wild Shape |
This formation should get you through the Time Gate as a new player. If you have other options or think a different DPS is geared better, try it out and see what happens! Swapping DPS around like this can help you figure out what works best for you with your specific items.
These are the rough Favor values you need to reach to make a Variant say Difficulty: Easy. Keep in mind that this is just a generic rating system and some Variants may be harder than others, even with Favor in this range.
| Variant | Favor Level (Normal) | Favor Level (Scientific Notation) |
|---|---|---|
| 75 | 20,000 | ~2e04 |
| 125 | 15,000,000 | ~1.5e07 |
| 175 | 150,000,000 | ~1.5e08 |
##Initial Mission: Brightly into Darkness
Complete: Area 50
Reward: Wulfgar + Gold Wulfgar Chest & whatever Mystra's Favor you earned
Info: No restrictions.
##Second Mission: Brightly into Darkness
Complete: Area 75
Reward: Gold Wulfgar Chest & whatever Mystra's Favor you earned
Info: No restrictions.
The area goals go up by 50 each time you select a specific Champion's Time Gate and then go down by 25 each time you select someone else's. This encourages you to do Time Gates for different Champions, potentially in a rotation, rather than just grinding the same Champion's Time Gate over and over.
Once you've done the first two missions, you then have to complete the variant the Time Gate gave you. If you've never done any of them, you'll get one at random. If you've done one, you'll get one of the other two you haven't done before. If you've done two of them before, you're guaranteed to get the one you haven't done. If you've done all three before, you get one at random.
##First Variant Option: Little Eyes are Lurking
Complete: Area 75
Reward: Gold Wulfgar Chest & whatever Mystra's Favor you earned
Info: A pair of Quasits have infiltrated your party, taking up two slots in the formation and causing chaos, making it difficult to work as a team. Every 25 areas they switch positions.
Gaar's Notes: Quasits...why's it always gotta be quasits? Losing slots in the formation is always rough, but losing them in this odd formation is even worse. Thankfully you only need to get to level 75. Don't make things hard on yourself, just get at least the Favor shown in the chart above before attempting it. Here are the positions for the three shifts you'll need to play through:
##Second Variant Option: Father and Son
Complete: Area 125
Reward: Gold Wulfgar Chest & whatever Mystra's Favor you earned
Info: Wulfgar and Bruenor have set off alone, on an adventure to catch up after some lost time. Only Bruenor and Wulfgar are available, and both start in your formation. Their damage and cooldowns are dramatically improved.
Gaar's Notes: Because this is just Bruenor and Wulfgar, you'll want to make sure you have e08+ Favor to give yourself the best possible chance of completing it. The level 100 Boss fight will be difficult and long even in the best of circumstances with only 2 Champions.
##Third Variant Option: Lolth's Domain
Complete: Area 175
Reward: Gold Wulfgar Chest & whatever Mystra's Favor you earned
Info: All Drow have the blessing of Lolth. Enemies gain armor and bosses gain additional armor.
Gaar's Notes: Due to the addition of armor to the majority of enemies in this variant, including enemies that were already armored, you want to leave this until you have e10+ Favor and you can easily get to level 200 in a Free Play. At that point, there shouldn't be an issue tanking the damage while working through the armor. I used a decently geared Wulfgar to complete this variant without running a full Companions of the Hall formation and it worked fairly well.
##Free Play
Complete: Area 50
Reward: Whatever Mystra's Favor you earned
Info: No restrictions.
