Update on my dad

Hi guys, I posted in here about 2 months ago about my father and my fears that he wouldn’t get to come home. Well, he got to come home and has been home for about 2 1/2 months now, but things seem to be getting worse after they got better. He was very responsive and conscious, but these past few days he barely opens his eyes… I’m really hoping I have some more time left with him. He’s also been having difficulty taking his medications, and we are going to ask about any liquid alternatives we may have or possibly an IV. I’m so sad.

So sorry that’s happened. My LO was very similar and the last resort of sorts I guess, was subcutaneous medicines given every several hours. LO didn’t open their eyes and didn’t move other than reflexes I believe, if at all. Enjoy every moment (good and bad or a mixture). Thank goodness for these message boards :( may you have time

Please talk to him, tell him everything you want to say. I took care of my mom in my home for 4 years. She fell in the middle of the night, at the hospital it was determined her fractured hip and shoulder were not reparable. She was on a morning drip the next 5 days(she was a dnr) and I never stopped reading to her poems she read to me as a child, played her favorite music, talked about all of the family vacations. She only opened her eyes twice in 5 days yet knew I was there. Hearing is the last sense to go, it’s horrific going through this. My mom died 6 months ago. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.🫂

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I hope you can find the help you need and that your presence is a comfort to your father.

I crush my Mom's pills and feed them by spoon with applesauce.

So sorry for this. They gave my Mother meds which are absorbed through the tissue in her mouth when she couldn't swallow. Maybe ask med team regarding this?

My Mother did rally in the end for a couple of weeks, but she went completely unresponsive with very rapid breathing in the last 48 hours.
