[1803] The Child With Hope In Her Eyes

This is a YA Fantasy novel, set in a fantastic world that turns around a twin star. This is chapter 0 - a prologue, set 15 years before the actual story. The MC is a girl who discovers later on that her mother isn't her real mother, and that she is heir to a House of a people she learned to hate. In this chapter, she's a seven month old baby with her bodyguard, trying to escape a trap. The idea is to give a first inkling of the world they live in, without making it too much of an info dump. I hope I succeeded there.

The story itself is about how the MC needs to appear in front of an Aerial Court to regain what was hers in the first place. She has to navigate 'fake' news while coming to terms with her new reality. In the chapter following this one, the MC is fifteen, and we learn about the start of a pandemic (they already have a vaccine. The pandemic is just a way to allow me to use parts from our real world within the configuration of this one).

Both sides (conspiracy and non-conspiracy theorists) have their opinions. All I try to do is to show why both sides do what they do, and how to navigate and maybe read them (without lecturing). There is a bias toward non-conspiracy (of course), but I try to give both sides a believable background.

For good measure: there are no conspiracies yet in this first chapter. Curious what you make of it.
