Tell me your stories of playoff heartbreak
After doing the unthinkable with Yeovil Town and taking them up to the Championship, I manage to somehow come third in my second season, missing out on automatic promotion to Blackburn by one point. I go into the playoffs thinking I have a decent chance against an out-of-form QPR who I have beaten on the past three occasions.
Wrong. After taking an early lead in the first leg, I sub on Lokosa, a young Dutchman with a worrying amount of aggression. Nevertheless, I put my faith in him to do the job. My faith, however, was misplaced as he gives away a penalty that eventually leads to them mounting a comeback to win 2-1.
No matter, I think. I have the second leg at home and my record at Huish Park has been pretty solid all season.
Cue the spiciest match of my life: a seven goal thriller where I was leading 3-1 after 65 minutes, before my hot-headed BWM, Hinshelwood, who’d accumulated 11 yellow cards and two red, goes through the back of a lad right outside the box. The resulting free kick was, of course, sweetly struck into the top right and QPR went on to win 6-4 on aggregate.
I realise I have performed above and beyond expectations so shouldn’t be too down about it, but I’d appreciate similar stories of playoff heartache to help soothe mine.

I started a save with Lancaster city on fm 21 with the lower league database, got promoted to vararama north then the national straight away and lost in the play offs 3 years in a row in the national league!
Finally got promoted the year later and when the new season should of started nothing happened, no new fixtures except for cup games something must of gone wrong on the custom data base i never got to play in the football league after 3 years of heartbreak and never used a custom database since
Oh man, that’s so rough! I don’t know if I could’ve hacked three years of the same shit, only to be screwed over when you finally succeed. Have you managed to have any similar saves since?
