Quitting Job while on Orders??

I have been on orders since July and will be until November.

My spouse just got news they will be getting a very substantial promotion, and we always discussed that as my trigger to resign and focus on my grad school and pursue a job in the field I'm passionate about.

Has anyone ever resigned and never returned to their job during orders? Was it seen as disrespectful or the same as not giving a two weeks notice? I don't want to burn a bridge because some of my coworkers are great people. Any advise??

Just be honest about it. If you actually work with/for good people, then this really is a non-issue. You'll probably be doing them a favor. Now, they won't have to hold a slot for you anymore and can get that job filled before you come back.

Only thing to consider is you being still Technically an employee you may be entitled to your year end bonus pro rated for time you worked. So maybe when done you stay until that.

You are fine and honestly you are probably doing them a favor because now they can re-hire for the possition.

don't quit your job until you have another job to replace it. And do NOT rely on being on orders for pay and benefits. Get a job and career and contribute to the workforce.
