Been seeing this band since 2019 and Ben was always my second favorite member after Rick. I have faith but man this sucks

Damn that was my first Goose show. I went in blind with very low expectations and I distinctly remember how into that song the entire crowd was. I went home and played it for my wife and 6 month old baby. It became a staple in our house for months. It’s amazing how times in your life can be totally associated with a song. I’ll always appreciate Ben for that

If the music we loved, especially the last few months was coming from a band that was out of sync or individuals in strife, then I can’t wait for both parties to move forward and make the music they connect with 100%. 10 years of playing music with a group of people, even when that group changes a few times, is a long time.
Think about yourself 10 years ago and how different you are now? How many jobs have you held working with the a small group of people for 10 years? Change is bound to happen. The best we can hope for is that this change lets the band members and Ben grow musically and fulfill more of their potential.

Love this take. Some of my favorite Goose has come from the last six months. So I'm like, damn, well now I want to hear how they sound when there isn't a stormcloud over their collective heads. (Or maybe there wasn't a stormcloud at all and the band was simply at peace with an everyone-knows-it's-coming split on the horizon.) At the same time, some of my favorite music has come from bands during times of internal conflict (Abbey Road, The Wall, Radio City Ghost 5/22/00, etc.).

There was a lot of talk during the Asheville Umphrey’s McGee sit-ins between Ben and Kris from UM about the direction Goose was going. As a founding member of Goose, Ben was not entirely happy with Peter’s influence over the band. After getting off the plane from the European tour, Ben commented to a couple fans in the airport bar, “I hope you can see now how exposed Peter’s lack of keyboard skills are. And they make fun of me for backing vocals on Butter Rum. Peter perpetually sounds like a teenager going through their voice change.”

She didn’t cheat on him as her post states. But she started boning Jeff and it came to fist-to-cuffs backstage after N2 at Hampton. Ben jammed a low tom over Jeff’s head and then grabbed a bowl of hummus and couscous and smeared it all over his face. He then stormed out of the green room shouting, “That whole Gong Gang BS is fucking stupid. There’s no ‘gang’ and you’re just a dumbass.”

Stay positive. This is a long term win for both Ben and Goose. Band dynamics are complicated, and it seems this change was needed. So the change was made.
Now let’s let it go, and look forward to see what both Ben and Goose do. Both deserve our support, not all this hate and drama.

Sad times indeed. I am surprised that they can keep playing under the Goose name. Usually when a founding member leaves, they have to play under a different name or make a huge payout to the departing member. Glad i saw them when they were a 3 piece and a 4 piece. I thought Ben would be there forever, i mean he looks like a young Jon Fishmen even. I thought the Goose statement was very corporate, not even close from the heart. Will be an interesting Summer 2024 tour, i think they need to rest for a bit but that wont happen. Take care peeps.

I have zero faith, I also started seeing them in 2019 and starting about a year and a half ago, I only see them live because their jams seem too similar to me to listen to them any other times.
Now though I have zero desire to see them live again, maybe after a decently long hiatus I'll check back in and see if they diversified their jams at all.
