Should You Pull? Adel SS4 & Mari SS4 | Wakki SS3 & Yuki SS5 | SS1 Selector Tier List (August 8, 2025)
Chapter 5 Part 1 has arrived, and although we expected Ruka SS4 (Unison) to come with it, instead we got two fairly low banners. I do not understand Yostar's schedule! We are also getting Adel SS4 ahead of Adel SS3. I will still be referring to them in the order of JP release. We are also getting a free SS1 selector! See below for my recommendations.
The Arts Battle banner will feature Inori SS2, so if you have been wanting her, this is a great chance to pick up the best unit currently in Global.
#SS1 Selector Tier List
EX Tier
- Yingxia SS1 - If you do not have her, pick her. While it is true that she is powercrept by Ruka SS5, she is the single best addition to any non-Adel team until then.
S Tier
- Aoi SS1 - A cheat button. Provides 3 turns AOE provoke and 2 uses of AOE cover/invuln. Extremely useful on SS2 and SS4 as well.
- Yotsuha SS1 - Extremely good and future-proof Fire Buffer.
- Muua SS1 - Healing and TacVision in one EX skill. Even if you have Tama SS5, Muua SS1 can still be very useful in certain teams or in 2-team fights.
- Irene SS1 - As long as you can get to her Tower Floor in the upcoming update in September and evolve her EX skill so that it becomes Critical Penetration, Irene SS1 can become your go-to daily farmer, dispatching most flashback fights with ease.
A Tier
- Aina SS1 - Extremely good OD generator and Debuffer. However, Aina SS2 and Ichiko SS3 are later preferred for OD generation. Aina SS3 does use SS1 EX a lot though.
- Seira SS1 - Excellent crit buffer if you are in need of one, especially with her upcoming Tower Upgrade in September.
- Fubuki SS1 - Once she gets her Tower Upgrade, she performs the same role as Miya SS2, but this upgrade may take a while to arrive on our server.
- Maki SS1 - Same deal as Fubuki SS1, but will probably get her Tower Upgrade sooner than Fubuki.
- Niina SS1 - Her common skill is an extremely good dungeon carry. Very good pickup if you want to make Tear Dungeon easier.
B Tier
- Tsukasa SS1 - Evolved grants boosts to Skill Attack Up, seen mostly on SS4 and SS5 but still useful on SS2 and SS3.
- Kozu SS1 - Evolved grants boost to debuffs, seen mostly on SS3.
- Kura SS1 - We are getting Badges soon, so Master Skills should be on the horizon, and Kura SS1 has one of the best Master Skills: a 40% Skill Attack Field
C Tier
- Hisame SS1 - Evolved grants AOE Critical Penetration attack. But Irene SS1 is much better at this role.
- Miya SS1 - Right now, it's just Small Light Field, but later evolved will provide Perma Def Down, used widely on Miya SS2.
- Seika SS1, Iroha SS1, Mari SS1 - Small Elemental Field if you are in need of it, mostly used on their later SS versions.
#Should You Adel SS4/Mari SS4?
Spender: Maybe, especially if you play Fire
Low-spender: No
F2P: No
Adel SS4 (Fire) has arrived before Adel SS3 (Dark). She is a Blaster/Buffer hybrid, providing Fire Attack Up and Fire Crit Dmg in a skill that also has high DR, but this can be seen as a side-grade to Yotsuha SS1. She also provides herself with Shadow Clones, which allows her to dodge incoming damage and debuffs. Her EX skill's also costs half SP if she has Shadow Clones, letting her put out buffs fairly quickly. Later, her Master Skill makes it so she provides AOE cover if she has a Shadow Clone, making her insanely good for sustain. So while she is useful now, and very useful later, you don't really need to pick up her unless you really want to play Fire but are lacking Yotsuha SS1 (but you can pick up Yotsuha SS1 from the Free SS1 Selector anyway).
Mari SS4 is a Fire Attacker with good self buffs so long as she has Shadow Clones, but her damage tends to be lacking and her buffs overlap heavily with Tama SS5. Also, didn't you get Yuri SS1 for free? Pretty solid skip unit.
#Adel SS4:
Wait, SS4? Where is SS3? Adel SS3 (Dark Blaster) has not arrived yet so we are stuck with a confusing numbering system. I've decided to stick with the JP order of release.
Adel SS4 is primarily a Fire Buffer. Her EX Skill provides the party with Fire Attack Up and Fire Crit Dmg Up while also doing a 6-hit ST Fire attack with decent DR. This skill costs 14 SP, but if she has Shadow Clones, it costs 7 SP. What are Shadow Clones? Well, her common skill and her LB0 provide her with 2 uses of Shadow Clone, which grants a small Skill Attack Up and allows her to evade any incoming damage and debuffs. Since she starts the battle with Shadow Clones, it's fairly easy for her to use her EX skill quickly and cheaply, allowing you to set up your Fire Buffs with ease.
Adel SS4 puts out the same buffs as Yotsuha SS1, but minus the Fire Crit Rate, and with a much smaller Fire Attack Up percentage (80% max compared to Yotusha's 94.4%), meaning Adel's party damage potential is lower than Yotsuha's. This is further compounded by the fact that Adel SS4 has Blaster Tear buffs, not Buffer Tear buffs. So if picking between the two, it comes down to what you are looking for. Do you want beeger numbas? Or do you want cheap and quick buffs with the ability to Blast?
I also want to point out that unlike Adel SS2 (Ice) and Adel SS3 (Dark), Adel SS4 is not useful as a damage dealer. Her damage is extremely low.
Later on, we will get access to Adel's Master Skill, which provokes the enemy and provides AOE Cover if Adel has Shadow Clones. This is essentially exactly what Aoi SS1 does, making Adel very good at sustain. Adel SS4 is the best source for Shadow Clones, although her SS1 EX evolved will also provide Shadow Clones.
EX Skill: Party Fire Attack Up, Party Fire Crit Dmg Up, and 6-hit ST Fire Attack with high DR. Half-SP cost if Adel has Shadow Clone.
Common Skill: 2-use Shadow Clone (Skill Attack Up 30% and evade incoming damage)
Relevant A/S/SS Skill: 3x40% Funnel (S), AOE High DR skill (SS1 EX)
LB0: 2-use Shadow Clone at battle start
LB3: Self DR rate up 30%.
Pros: She is able to put out Fire Buffs very quickly and provide decent Blasting.
Cons: Her damage potential is lower than Yotsuha SS1's.
Conclusion: Adel is an extremely competent Fire Buffer and decent Blaster, able to put out Fire Buffs cheaply and quickly, though with less party damage potential than Yotsuha SS1. Later on with her Master Skill, she also becomes extremely good at party sustain.
#Mari SS4:
Mari SS4 is a Fire Attacker. Like her SS3, if certain conditions are met, she gains useful self Buffs. Her EX skill is a 6-hit ST Fire attack with 50% HP modifier. If she has Shadow Clones (granted from her common skill or LB0 at battle start), she gets self-Crit Rate Up, Crit Dmg Up, and Tac Vision. This makes her pretty self sufficient as a damage dealer.
Unfortunately, her self-buffs overlap with the better Supports you'd be bringing anyway, like Tama SS5. In theory, you could use one Tama SS5 EX on Mari SS4 and put out pretty good damage fairly quickly. But in practice, you'll find that Mari SS4's damage potential is lower than you'd like, especially at lower limit breaks. It's also worth noting that Mari's self Crit Dmg buff is 30%, so if you're maximizing damage, you'd still want two Tama SS5 EX's (50% Crit Dmg) anyway.
I don't really have much else to say. You probably already have Yuri SS1 as a Fire Attacker anyway.
EX Skill: 6-hit ST Fire Attack with 50% HP Mod. If she has a Shadow Clone, self-Crit Rate Up, Crit Dmg Up, and Tac Vision.
Common Skill: 2-use Shadow Clone (Skill Attack Up 30% and evade incoming damage)
A/S/SS Skill: None
LB0: 2-use Shadow Clone at battle start
LB3: 5 SP at battle start if in frontline
Pros: She has great self-buffs with easily met conditions.
Cons: Her self-buffs overlap with common Supports and you might find her damage lacking.
Conclusion: Mari SS4 is a great Fire Attacker in theory, but in practice you'd be better off with Yuri SS1.
#Should You Wakki SS3/Yuki SS5?
Spender: Maybe, if you play Thunder
Low-spender: No
F2P: No
Wakki SS3 and Yuki SS5 are units that were good on release, but with our foresight, they don't really stand the test of time. Wakki SS3 is an AOE Thunder Attacker who provides 1 stack of Party Thunder Attack Up and comes with the ability to donate 6 SP to a party member, making her more of a Supporter than an Attacker. She also comes with a passive 5x10% funnel, making her pretty good in dungeon and Arts Battle (as long as you have access to her only AOE common skill from SS1). She really shines at LB3, but lower than that may not feel super useful.
Yuki SS5 provides Large Dark Field and can dispel 3 Debuffs from all enemies. While this will be best-in-slot for Dark, she will quickly become overshadowed by Iroha SS2+1.
Wakki SS3 is a swiss army knife unit. She serves several roles: AOE Thunder Attacker, Thunder Buffer, Party Support, and Dungeon Queen. Her EX skill is a 10-hit AOE Thunder Attack with 50% HP modifier. The first time it's used, it also provides the party with one use of Thunder Attack Up. This skill does decent damage, but does not have the highest potential.
At LB0, she starts the battle with a 5x10% funnel if in frontline. This makes her pretty good in dungeon scenarios, although you need access to her SS1 for her only AOE skill.
Her common skill allows her to donate 6 SP to an ally. This can be a very useful support skill and is fairly rare among the cast. If you have access to her SS2, she can also provide Large Skill Attack Up. When you take into account the 10+5 hits from her EX skill, allowing her to contribute greatly to OD, and the Thunder Buff, you can see how all of these elements combine to make her a fairly robust support.
At LB3, she starts with +5 SP, letting her get to donating or attacking much faster, and especially helping her in dungeon scenarios and with damage. So basically, if you have her SS1 and her SS2, and you have SS3 at LB3, she's a beast of a swiss army knife unit. Without these elements, she tends to fall short.
EX Skill: Party Thunder Attack Up (one time only), 10-hit AOE Thunder attack with 50% HP Mod
Common Skill: Donate 6 SP to party member
A/S/SS Skill: AOE Ice Attack (SS1), 5x10% Funnel (S), Ally Large Skill Attack Up (SS2)
LB0: Passive 5x10% Funnel at battle start if in frontline
LB3: 5 SP at battle start if in frontline
Pros: She can donate SP, provide buffs, generate OD, and deal damage.
Cons: She wants access to her SS1 (at least) and performs best at higher LB's.
Conclusion: Wakki SS3 is a great all-around unit with several beneficial uses, but she performs better the more investment she has.
#Yuki SS5:
Yuki SS5 arrives as our first Large Dark Field. Unfortunately, most of the time that's all she tends to bring. Her EX Skill is an 8-turn Large Dark Field (65%) that also dispels 3 buffs from all enemies, followed by a 5-hit AOE Dark attack. Despite being a Breaker, this skill does not scale off of DEX and does not have any DP modifier. Like with Bungo SS3 last banner, Dispel is great when it's needed and useless when it's not, and we already have access to Weakning orbs that have Dispel. This results in Yuki SS5 only being a small upgrade to Iroha SS1. And when Iroha SS2 comes out, Yuki SS5 will no longer have a place on Dark teams.
Her common skill restores 1 skill use if it breaks. This is not super useful, but if you use her in dungeon, especially with her SS3, this can actually be okay.
At LB0, she grants the party an 8-turn Dark Attack Up if she dispels a buff. At LB3, she also grants an 8-turn Dark Attack Up if she breaks. Neither of these are worth merit.
EX Skill: 8-turn Large Dark Field (65%), remove 3 Buffs from all enemies, then 5-hit AOE Dark Attack
Common Skill: 3-hit AOE Dark Attack that restores 1 skill use if it breaks
A/S/SS Skill:
LB0: If she dispels an enemy buff, 8-turn Party Dark Attack Up (60%)
LB3: If she breaks, 8-turn Party Dark Attack Up (60%)
Pros: She brings the first Large Dark Field. She is able to dispel 3 buffs from all enemies, which can be situationally useful.
Cons: Most of the time, all she is bringing is Large Dark Field. Even if you want her for Dispel, we have Weakening Orbs.
Conclusion: She can be a good addition to your Dark team for a bit, but she is not worth pulling for... although you may find use for her as an Enemy Buff Dispeller.
#Looking ahead:
I've recently updated my recommended Pulling Paths. A few notable additions since this update are Admiral Yanagi SS3 for high scorers and Iroha SS3 for Thunder. But recent JP shakeups may change things in the months to come.
#Who's next?
Yostar posted a schedule of upcoming events. Here's what we can expect:
- August 22: Karen SS4 (Dark Blaster/Buffer) / Megumi SS5 (Thunder Debuffer)
Meanwhile, a lot of non-event banners could show up at any time. We are currently long overdue for Adel SS3 (ST Dark Blaster) and Yingxia SS2 (Thunder Buffer).
