Ep 20: Time skip of a month, Fan Changyu is hunting down kidnappers but she can't find Changning. Women have started carrying butcher knives in imitation of her because she's so awesome. Sui Yuanqing has reached his own territory, Baxia, with Changning. The two creepy brothers discuss that Xie Zheng is coming for them.
Xie Zheng gets his package from Fan Changyu, including candy and a divorce letter. He's not happy about that part. Then he is told that Sui Yuanqing has "his daughter" which is reasonable mistake to make
how dare she send what they agreed on?
Fan Changyu ended up in prison. Li Huaian visits her and she asks him questions about her parents death. He takes her to see her parent's case files. She is also carrying a divorce letter which he sees. The she is back to questing for Changning and her missing husband. Xie Zheng visits General He, they have a bait and flood plan.
Xie Zheng asks for the truth about the Fan family, General He refuses to say. Xie Zheng then tells General He to spread rumours that Changning is his daughter, because they'll believe Xie Zheng will be reckless and then she'll be treated well as a hostage. General He sends one of his men on a secret mission. Fan Changyu is told to check a refugee camp in Baxia, Xie Zheng is going to Baxia, our couple has a reunion in Baxia? Please???
Bao'er wants to show his writing to his father.
Yu Qianqian taught Bao'er to lie and say his father was a great hero. Qi Min/Sui Yuanhuai knows he's lying and hasn't been allowing him to see his mother. Sui Yuanhuai has a servant beaten and Bao'er has to watch and imagines her as his mother. It is awful. Man that man suffer a death by 1000 cuts.
I have totally seen this particular stream before in another drama. Love of the Divine Tree?
Anyway, the stream is too low and people are being requited to work in a quarry. Fan Changyu tries to help a guy escape but he tries to attack her. She is taken by General He's subordinate.
Ep 21: Bao'er is chanting "don't hurt my mother" and not eating. The nanny from earlier convinces him to eat but he starts eating ink. Sui Yuanhuai is so unimpressed that his son can't even witness a murder without being traumatized (kids these days, amiright?) The nanny suggests bringing Fan Changyu over to play with Bao'er. It's gonna be okay everyone, the Cuties are reunited!
She's bringing warm light it's very symbolic
Fan Changyu is at a labour camp. She gets paired with a stubborn old man, Tao, for the day. He is impressed by her strength and she defends him from bullies
The thugs are alive!
They take her to their secret hideout. She brings them mementos from their family members and they swear to take revenge and then go home. Old Tao, he is a bit of a jerk
Fan Changyu and Old Tao start talking up... the same man (Xie Zheng) without knowing it. Yu Qianqian is united with her son (yay!) and Changning.
Yu Qianqian is teaching the kids to look happy so they can escape someday. And then... did someone splice a mini into this drama? This bath scene is straight out of a mini:
We get the backstory of them, which is him have a fire PTSD attack and jumping into the water. Yu Qianqian saves him and then he becomes obsessed with her. In the present, he asked if she thought of him at night and she says in her nightmares (she is such a queen). Changning is taken away by Sui Yuanqing (the Cutie time is over... 😭)
To keep us all from The Depression, Gongsun Yin keeps making fun of Xie Zheng for doing things like eating candy because of his wife:

Novel random bits: This is how Fan Changyu talks back to Song Yan once in the novel and it's great, "My husband is handsome and talented. I’m neither stupid nor blind, so why would I be pining for someone else?”
Old Tao is also such a jerk in the novel, but I like him
