First poem I've written.
this is the first time I've ever wrote poetry and just wanted to get some opinions on it.
Little context: I met this girl on a debate team and when I say team I'm referencing that.
The actual poem:
oh all-loving, all-knowing, all-perfect god
answer my prayer,
tell me is it better to live in peace and regret for something you haven't done,
or it is worse to live in chaos, knowing you confessed your heart.
tell me my god,
how must an imperfect man weigh his doubts against each other,
when he does not even know the difference between lusting and loving.
tell me my god,
how must I learn to love when all I do is lust,
how can one love your daughter when he himself doubts his love for you.
I cry out to you, yet I defy you at every step.
my god I cry out to you for guidance.
yet when the light shines on the narrow road for me I run to the open streets.
my god I cry out to you for knowledge,
yet I refuse to learn about you and your love.
my god I cry out to you for guidance on the girl I want to love,
yet I ignore your answers and stand still neither moving toward her or away.
I sit on the fence between you and the devil, knowing that the fence is his.
tell me oh my sovereign lord,
should I confess my truth knowing the chaos it will cause between me and her and the entire team
or should I keep my peace and the peace between us all.
lord I cry to you as I hold an unbloomed rose, a rose that you may bloom at will.
lord I ask of you will it bloom if she touches It?
and will it rot if I hold it?
