Zhan Zhao Adventures - Episode 11 and 12 RECAP
EPISODE 11
He Bo becomes enraged after the chaotic fight at the Zhongxiao Pavilion. He yells at Zhang Yue, the Moon Envoy, ordering her to capture Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang right away. If she doesn't, he threatens to kill every member of Hanshui Palace. Zhang Yue feels obligated to fight, but the Envoy seizes the chance to pull her aside when Huo Linglong shows up as backup.
Zhang Yue warns her during their conversation that fighting will only result in a pointless tragedy for all parties. Jing Xingze, the son of Jing Yi Ming, tries to use his Great Compassion Palm to remove the confusion. But because he lacks skill, Bai Yutang soon controlled him by putting a knife to his throat. Zhan Zhao, Bai Yutang, and Huo Linglong successfully make their way out of the pavilion by using the young guy as a hostage. The group tends to their injuries after arriving at a temporary shelter.
After being hit by Shen Zhongyuan's Pili Palm earlier, Bai Yutang utilizes Linglong Honey to help him recover. Huo Linglong tells the others that she has already caught the deceitful Hua Chong and sent him over to Fan Zhongyu. Hua Chong maintains his resistance throughout the questioning, making fun of Zhan Zhao's position as a government official by asserting that they are not legally permitted to murder him. Fan Zhongyu proposes that they relocate to an empty house outside the city owned by one of his distant relatives after realizing that their current location is no longer safe. Ding Zhaohui, meanwhile, pursues Jing Xingze and Zhi Hua secretly back to the Jing resident
There, he discovers an unexpected fact: Zhi Hua is the illegitimate son of Jing Yi Ming, the mysterious He Bo. Inside the manor, Xingze accuses Zhi Hua of almost killing him in an attempt to place the blame for the evening's failure on him. Zhi Hua pledges his unwavering loyalty to Jing Yi Ming after the latter initially criticizes him for his ambitions but later promises to give him everything he wants in return for his continuous service.
As Ding Zhaohui moves across the rooftops of the estate, he is nearly discovered by Mrs. Jing and her maid. But Mrs. Jing stays calm and decides to assist him, loudly calling the intruder a "stray cat." She purposefully tells Ding Zhaohui that the "cat" should go via the open hallway to get to the front yard, giving him the instructions he needs to get away. His wife sticks to her account when Jing Yi Ming shows up to look into the commotion, and he ultimately brushes it off as a simple animal sighting. The next morning, Zhan Zhao and Huo Linglong intercept a limping clerk as he attempts to leave the city. Under the threat of force, the clerk confesses that the local Magistrate, Lord Li, is a frequent guest at the Zhongxiao Pavilion
He explains that Lord Li and a market official accused Liu Hongyi of learning the truth about the pavilion while looking into a stolen token and a secret message, which led to his framing and murder. When Zhan Zhao finds out that his comrade was sacrificed to shield the corrupt local leaders, he is saddened. Bai Yutang meets Zhi Hua in the city while looking for medication. The enemy reveals that he has used Yemotian Poison, the same toxin that drove Shen Zhongyuan insane, to poison Bai's older brothers. Zhi Hua observes that although Zhan Zhao strangely escaped the poison's effects, Bai's brothers will soon meet a horrific end if an antidote isn't given.
Using this as advantage, he demands that Bai Yutang turn over the data Zhan Zhao has collected and gives him till midnight the next day to meet at the Fenglai Pavilion. Zhan Zhao and Huo Linglong question Hua Chong once again at their hiding place. Hua Chong eventually divulges the inner workings of the Zhongxiao Pavilion out of fear that He Bo's soldiers will silence him. The most exclusive members arrive secretly through the embroidery shop, he continues, and guests are rated according to Gold, Silver, and Bronze tokens. He acknowledges that in order to appease the demands of the pavilion, he was coerced into abducting Yu Lian and another female, Hui Dai. Fearing that his friend may have also been poisoned, Bai Yutang returns as soon as the truth is revealed and checks Zhan Zhao's pulse.
Zhang Yue argues that the Hanshui Palace shouldn't be involved in He Bo's misdeeds and asks her boss, the Granny, for permission to help Zhan Zhao. The Granny declines, stating that the palace has lost power due to the disappearance of their holy relic, the Chang Hong Bi, and must continue to submit to He Bo in order to survive. Jing Yi Ming gives the order to eliminate any witnesses as the crisis worsens in order to safeguard his upcoming birthday feast.
Shortly after, Zhan Zhao and the others discover Zhang Yue and her disciples moving a group of bodies in the middle of the night. Bai Yutang is horrified to find that one of the victims is Hui Dai, the girl he had hoped to save. Filled with indignation, he confronts the members of the Hanshui Palace, condemning them for acting as heartless accomplices to He Bo’s murderous schemes. Zhang Yue, however, warns them that He Bo already knows how they tracked the embroidery shop and tells them they must protect those who are still alive.
EPISODE 12
Declaring that Hanshui Palace was not responsible for the girl's death, the Moon Envoy intervened to put an end to the fight. She urged them to return right once in order to safeguard people they had left behind, warning that He Bo already knew how they had entered Zhongxiao Pavilion and the embroidery business. Zhan Zhao, Bai Yutang, and Huo Linglong immediately fled after realizing that Fan Zhongyu was in danger.
Hua Chong used the group's absence as Jing Xingze and his men explored the region. He headbutted Fan Zhongyu and fled after deceiving him with information about his sister, Yu Lian. But Hua Chong immediately encountered the assassins of Jing Xingze. He led the murderers back to the hiding place in order to preserve his own life.
Zhan Zhao saved Hua Chong from Jing Xingze just in time, but it was too late for the others; Fang, the clerk, and Fan Zhongyu had already been killed. Bai Yutang tried to kill Hua Chong because he was so upset and felt guilty for abandoning them. In order to save Yu Lian, Zhan Zhao and Huo Linglong interfered, claiming that Hua Chong needed to stand trial.
Dissatisfied with Xiangzhou's corruption, Bai Yutang claimed that justice could only be served by his blade and that the law was only a formality. When Bai Yutang fainted due to exhaustion and injuries, the conflict came to an abrupt conclusion. The Yicheng Magistrate was the last surviving witness in Liu Hongyi's case after the clerk passed away. The Magistrate sat in his office, waiting for the end, knowing that the capital planned to call him, making him the next target for elimination.
Through an enraged storm, Zhan Zhao came to approach him. The Magistrate remained unapologetic in the face of approaching danger, declaring that his corruption had guaranteed his family's future, something Liu Hongyi's integrity could never deliver. He Bo, Jing Yi Ming, controlled Xiangzhou officials through secret ledgers of their violations at Zhongxiao Pavilion, the Magistrate said during questioning. He described how Liu Hongyi had been cruelly tortured to death for continuing to look into Yu Lian's disappearance.
In spite of his frustration, Zhan Zhao managed to rescue the Magistrate's life by pledging to bring him before Kaifeng Court to prove that justice still exists. As assassins approached, Zhan Zhao battled off groups of attackers to protect the witness. When the rain stopped, Zhan Zhao went to the hideout and found among Fan Zhongyu's few possessions a lotus-shaped piece of jewelry intended for Yu Lian.
glimpse of the medication Fan had been preparing for him before to his passing brought Bai Yutang to tears as he regained consciousness. Bai Yutang battled his regret, plagued by the harsh deadline set by Zhi Hua and the memory of his companion. After burying Fan Zhongyu, Zhan Zhao sat in solemn stillness the next morning, burdened by the world's continuous darkness.
