ELI5: Why is it that people can easily pick up/retain lyrics from songs while we can't easily memorize paragraphs?

A friend and I was waiting for takeout food and the restaurant that we ordered food played really old musics from the 1990s. Songs like from Backstreet boys, NSYNC, 98 Degrees, Boyzone etc. I'm pretty surprised I remember the lyrics despite not hearing the songs for like 10 years. Yet I have a hard time memorizing other important stuff.

Songs have rhyme and timing. if you know the beat of song, you have a good chance of telling that to someone who know it. a paragraph is random words in no particular order, which makes it harder to pick up it's pattern

You hear the lyrics more often, they are short, and they have a beat or melody, rhythm that makes it easier to remember.

Also rhyming. Both catchier, and limits the options of what could follow, making it easier to remember.

Because song lyrics have an associated melody which has a particular relationship to the words, it has a rhythm that makes it easier to remember, and sometimes it rhymes, which helps you predict the next line. Song lyric is a form of poetry, and most people who have completed a good high school can recite around 100 lines of poetry on demand.

because songs offer more potential neural pathways with which to strengthen memory, and you might not be using optimal memorization strategies
