Can you still build Ironclads even after you research combustion? (Destroyers)

I'm not near a computer and need to know this. I know you can build bombers and tanks after stealth and modern Armor

No you cannot. Generally, obsolete units can only still be built if the unit that replaces them uses a strategic resource. That's why you can build Warriors up until you research the tech for Longswordsmen, which for me has sometimes come as late as the Industrial Era.

Shame, I would like to continue to fight with weaker units than over powers ones. That would be fun. Turn 300 and a wave of crossbow man and swordsman storm your city.

The only unit you can do it with would be Landschknects. Which is kinda weird that they still let you do that, if you think about it.

"Sir, the enemy is at our doorstep with tanks and helicopters! What do we do?"

"Send in the mercenaries equipped with pikes."

And it would only take 3 turns to upgrade those 30 pikemen into 30 squadrons of attack helicopters.

So as long as I dont get the longswordmen tech i can pump out jaguars as the aztec. I like knowing this.

I do not believe so.

Destroyers take over for Ironclads and Privateers, stopping the production of both.

No, once a unit is obsolete, the unit it upgrades to is the only one you can produce. I do know that there is a mod on Steam that changes this however.
