Suddenly, I'm one of those super annoying people who "just knew" they were pregnant, way before my positive test
I have to admit to getting totally irritated in the past when people would talk about early pregnancy and say they "just knew." How annoying, right?
So, uh. Now that's totally me.
Feel free to skip down to the good stuff, as my history is kind of drawn out.
Let me back up and apologize for being a total lurker here since we started trying for number two in January. My first was conceived on our honeymoon, when we had barely decided to just stop preventing.
My daughter is 16 months old and still nurses with some frequency, so my cycles were wonky and short, and I slowly went from trying when my CM looked promising, to OPK testing multiple times a day - which showed I was ovulating much later than I had previously thought. My LP was typically 7-8 days long.
I spoke to a nurse midwife at the birth center I work at, who offered to put me on a Prometrium prescription for a few months. Luckily I was pretty sure of ovulation at least, because of OPKs and temp spikes. So I started that for cycle 5, had a nice long LP, and still got my period. This was cycle 6, my second on progesterone.
So here's the breakdown:
CD 1-5, AF. This is really long compared to my normal 2-3 light days. I'm thinking the longer LP last cycle thanks to the progesterone allowed my body to build up a nicer lining?
CD 9: EWCM, starting much earlier than normal (I typically O on CD17 or so). Started wondering if this cycle was going to be anovulatory. Negative OPK.
CD 10-12: More EWCM, OPKS starting to darken. Positive or almost-positive OPK night of CD 12.
CD 13: FF has this as my O day. Very dark positive OPK with FMU, and suddenly a really strong good feeling - probably related to such a good, early O. I confess to my husband how optimistic I am, and he surprises me by saying he has a really good feeling this month, too.
CD 14-20: Nothing special. My temp shoots up CD 14 so I start my progesterone (200mg vaginally, at night) that night. Trying not to stress. Went to a fancy hotel with some friends, got a little drunk, and went down some fun water slides.
CD 21/8DPO: Go to open a new bottle of wine after the toddler is in bed, have strong urge to drink chocolate milk instead. Drink chocolate milk out of wine glass. Begin to totally think I could be pregnant, because that was my biggest craving with my daughter. Pre-progesterone, I would probably have gotten my period on this day. Notice that my pee has been cloudy all day. I'm totally thinking I could be pregnant at this point.
CD 25/12DPO: Get a squinter on two wondfos with FMU. Telling one of the midwives at work turns into literally everyone there knowing - so there's that. Get home and realize my batch of wondfos is all over the internet as a bad batch, giving people false positives. Freak out. Buy FRER, pee on, totally prego.
Today I'm 14DPO. Trying to stop peeing on things. Wondfos have gotten darker, FRERs haven't by much - which the internet tells me is probably fine. My boobs are off-and-on mildly sore, I'm exhausted, having insane dreams, and very bothered by smells. My pee is cloudy, which is a really weird thing and not typically a pregnancy symptom - but I had it with my first pregnancy, too. Mostly I'm in that surreal stage of knowing I'm pregnant but having very little reason to believe it.
This cycle, I: Used pre-seed (but didn't actually need it around O due to crazy amounts of CM), followed SMEP [BD CD 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, and then randomly following O], took progesterone nightly from 2 DPO and will continue until I'm 8-10 weeks. I also started zoloft for anxiety late last cycle, which is probably inconsequential but worth noting.
Honestly, I think I got lucky and my hormones are finally balancing out; but I know the prometrium made a huge difference with my LP.
Obligatory line porn: 12 DPO squinters
FRERs, 12 DPO on the top, 13DPO on the bottom
All my Wondfos, newest on the bottom. Other people out there pee on things and then tape them into notebooks, right?
