Came here to say this. Mind you haven't used this since Windows 8 either.

Windows 8 natively mounts ISOs.

Edit: seriously guys, it's like magic! Throw your Daemon tools in the trash! Unless of course your still using it for piracy.

And if you have computers running Windows 7?

Sheeps head, top comment.

Then Virtual Clone Drive works if your not upgrading to 8 in a timely fashion.

Didn't even know Daemon Tools still existed. Huh.

Instead of linking sensationalist titles based on ONE users experience maybe you ought to read the comments. At least 2 other users installed it with no malware or anything else. This looks like a case of OP fucked up somewhere and didn't uncheck something. I also have the latest DT Lite installed and I never got a toolbar. If OPs statement is valid (which being anecdotal evidence isn't very well proven) then so are the 2 installs in the comments along with mine which were all malware free.

That said, who knows. It might have crap bundled with it but for those who click through everything, well it was gonna happen one way or another. These type of people really ought to have Unchecky installed. It isn't perfect but it is certainly better than nothing.

This is not the first time I have heard of Daemon Tools being bundled with malware and/or data-mining, garbage toolbars that use some clever ruse to install themselves.

Oh I am sure but like I said, several other users have had no issues, myself included. A ton of handy software also comes with crap that IMO should just be called shitware. It is rather unfortunate, then you also have "download sites" that also bundle in their own crap that can be just as bad.

I think it's good for people to be aware of alternate programs. The dev is free to chime in or make a statement if the assertion made by the OP is not true. Also, one could test the install in a VM to see if they could reproduce the results.

I agree but it is a little much to leave the title the same when only one user has had the issue so far. Alternatives are always good though.

Why does anyone use Daemon Tools anymore? Virtual disk support exists from Windows 7 on.

Because there's no native support for ISOs in Win7. MS pushed out a tool last year for it but your first hits when searching for mounting capabilities are almost certainly old endorsements for Daemon Tools.

Because it worked in the past, why would I stop using it? I will now, of course.
