The new 3ds XL, question about ecodes.

My last Nintendo portable was the DS slim. I'm pulling the trigger on the new 3ds XL due to the overhaul this system has finally received. From what I can tell you can now purchase digital games for the 3ds on Nintendo.com, and redeem them on your 3ds.

Is there a place that sells "ecodes" for 3ds games in a similar fashion to say, GreenManGaming for Steam keys? I see Nintendo has been running sales but if it's possible I'd like to have a couple websites with competing prices.

Not in the same way as greenmangaming, but gamestop can (could?) sell you codes. Those never go on sale, though.

I believe I also saw that Amazon is selling codes in Japan, so it could mean we'll get them in other areas eventually as well. I still don't think they'll go on sale often, but it'd be more likely to see Amazon sales than Gamestop.

Well if they're Japanese they'd be subject to RegionLocking. Which completely rules that out unless OP is planning to get a Japanese 3DS

My point was that Amazon US might sell US codes eventually, not Japanese ones.

Purchasing on Nintendo.com really only works for some games. For most, you just buy them directly through the Nintendo eShop on the 3DS itself - you just log it online, and download stuff directly to the handheld.

Here is a list of the current eShop sales. I post a spreadsheet like this every week in the GameDeals subreddit. I'll probably post again tomorrow night (it seems like the eShop usually has most of its updates on Thursdays). Hope this helps!

Sure thing! I got plenty of great deals on that sub, and hopefully in the coming weeks, months and years (if I'm super-optimistic... I only started doing this a few weeks ago) I'll be posting stuff in there to help you save money too. :-)
