Worldstar on McDonald Chicken Nuggets

same shit with Taco Bell.
Just recently, I ordered 4 items and asked for a lot of sauce. Bitch gave me 3 sauce packets.
Sure, you could avoid that problem by just going inside, but I went through the drive thru. But, I mean, you could at least give me 1 packet per item. If you just stick your hand in the container and grab, you're gonna pull out at least 5 packets. To only get 3 means she picked the packets individually and stopped at 3. When I asked for a lot.
As a current Taco Bell employee, I just want you to know that I've been told multiple times that I give waaaay too much sauce out. But I don't plan on stopping.
Makin me cry bro, you da real MVP
At my taco bell they are giving handfuls of sauce. Like stupid amounts of sauce.
If you have taco bell sauce, anything you make can become taco bell.
Woohoo!
As a college student I can confirm.
I never buy any hot sauce (except for Sriracha) because every time I go to Taco Bell I get like a month's supply.
Verde for daaaaays
Do you live in Oregon? Cause if so, I might be making taco bell bankrupt with the absolutely retarded amount of sauce I give out.
Nope, Colorado.
More people like this, please. MVP material right here.
I like your style. The late night guy at the Del Taco by my house hooks it up like that. And if I happen to be coming by after going to the liquor store, I always pay him back with a couple beers now and then. It's a good system!
[Pants or no pants you are aces.] (http://imgur.com/r/all/BuCZZ1i)
You been to some stingy ass Taco Bells then! Every Taco Bell I ever been to gives a handful of each sauce you ask for even if you only order 2 tacos.
Same here. I get one burrito and when they ask if I want sauce I say "one hot," so they give me like six. Every time. Like... what am I supposed to drink this stuff?
what am I supposed to drink this stuff?
Have I been doing it wrong?
No, you're doing it right. If you don't feel it in your butthole, it's not Taco Bell.
I judge how much I have made a new friend by the amount of taco bell packets scattered around their car.
I have the opposite problem. Taco Bell gives me tons of sauce packets but when I ask for hot and fire I get one fire ten hits and a bag full of mild. I'm not eating mild sauce.
We should make our trips together. I only will eat the mild sauce.
As soon as I figure out how to tag people as stuff, you're gonna be known as Taco Bell buddy.
Got RES? Next to people's names is a little tag. click that.
Yes! If I ask for fire sauce they give like 2 packets of fire and like 15 milds. No one I know even eats that nasty shit.
They sell the fire sauce in bottles at the grocery store now.

Drive through. I rarely actually enter a Taco Bell.
On the flip side of this I once got 3 tacos at the drive through, asked for 4 or 6 mild sauces and was handed close to 15 packets
I have long suspected one factor in the size of a mcdonalds manager bonus is sauce hoarding. Sounds silly. But that has to be it right?
Former McDs manager here. We actually took courses on "Penny Profiting for Business" or some crap like that.
They had us go out to our dumpster bins and pull trash bags and look through them for unused sauce packets (ketchup included). Then we did the math. It really adds up over time.
Say one ketchup packet is $0.02. Now say that an employee gives every customer a "handful" of ketchup, maybe 6 packs. Average customer (taking into account some people don't even use ketchup) uses 4. That's two packs wasted, or $0.04. Not a lot, really. But then, consider the fact that one store might serve 1000 people a day (this number obviously varies). Now, two extra ketchups per person every day is $40 wasted. If one restaurant is open 364 days a year, they have just thrown away $14,560 in ketchup alone.
The dipping sauces (honey mustard, bbq, etc.) actually cost more, so they would usually charge for extra when it was convenient. We were trained not to pick a fight over it if it was within reason.
FYI: We were doing training the day we dug through the garbage, we were not prepping food. We all wore gloves and then washed up afterwards. The garbage was returned to the bins.
Now say that an employee gives every customer a "handful" of ketchup
This is so annoying. They do this at McDonalds, Popeyes and a lot of other fast food places I visit. And then they look at me like I'm retarded for only taking 2/3 out of their massive handful of ketchup packets.
Ask for 2 cocktail sauces though, and you're lucky to get one.
I would always just ask "how many?" when they needed sauce of any kind. I'd rather give you how much you need, not too much or too little.
A few of the "test stores" watched how people ate- the amount of sauces and the amount of nuggets. They also have a team go through the footage to count how many of those extra sauces went into the trash can completely unopened. There is no reason to give people product so it can go directly into the dumpster outside. People complain about all of the waste coming out of a fast food joint but don't stop to think "Hey, maybe I shouldn't grab a huge handful of napkins and a bunch of this other shit to just toss in ten minutes."
When I worked there in high school, there were times a car full of kids would stop me multiple times after giving them their food "I want ranch! Oh an honey mustard! And some ketchup!" It upped my line times and I got chewed out for it multiple times. Charging people extra money stops the "Oh wait!" part at the drive up window and counter. I stopped caring about acting like a dick at the window after having to deal with my massive dick manager two or three times a week berating me over "excessive" product shrink.
How about putting up signs or other encouragements to not be wasteful? No, charging for sauce is for profits.
"Be Kind, Rewind"
"Slow, Children at Play"
"No Littering"
"Recycling"
"No Parking, Fire Lane"
Yeah, signs asking people to be slightly considerate totally work all the time.
My favorite, "No Smoking"
People literally smoke in front of No Smoking signs where I am.
Also, they're a business. If Plan A costs money (posters) and Plan B makes money (charging for sauce) whilst still achieving the decrease in unused sauces being thrown away...no prizes for guessing what plan they're gonna choose
[deleted]
Why can't it be both?
It is right. Its all about profit. I just commented somewhere else on this thread with more details but TL;DR: Giving out more than the "portioned" amount of sauce means less profit. Less profit means less hours and less managers bonus (a point i left out before)
Yea I cooked at 2 different Hooters locations and Managers at both stores stayed on the cooks and girls asses about ringing up ranch and for us to not give girls ranch if they didn't have a ticket for it. We buy the ranch by the case the same as the chicken so they both are under food costs. Too much waste and managers don't get their bonus and cooks didn't see raises...
If I worked at Hooters, I too would stay on the girls asses about my sauce.
Shit we didn't have to work hard to get the ones with bolt ons in dry storage with a flashlight under their tit making the implant glow.
The employee knows he can't clock out until everything is stocked, so the less he dips into his sauces, the less work he has to do at the end of the day.
What pisses me off is the sign that says a 10 piece comes with 2 sauces. A 20 piece comes with 3. WTF??
1 sauce per 6.66 nuggets. Dippin for the devil
Barely get to show the sauce to the nugget.
(10/2)=(20/3) Fuck proportions!
LPT: ask for exactly how many packets you want. "A lot" or "boatloads" of sauce is not an exact amount.
I do ask for four bbq with a 20 piece nuggets and half the time I still get 3. I need 4. Annoying, but eh.
Ask for an extra sauce. 20pc comes with 3 to start
Three aint enough man I need five.
Relevant user name
How about a "metric fuckton"?
This is accurate. I always state the number i want. even at chick fil a where they dont care i ask for 4 exact BBQs
It's the managers. All they see is nickles and dimes = thousands of dollars. I once went to the bathroom at a mcdonalds while the manager was in there, grabbed one paper towel, hands weren't dry yet, grabbed another, and he started yelling at me for it.
I wouldve emptied the roll while making eye contact.
ASSERT YOUR DOMINANCE
The time he spent yelling at you was worth more than the paper towel. Nor is he going to stop you doing it again, but may well stop you returning at all. It makes no economic sense. The only payoff is the burgeoning erection in his McDrawers.
Thats when you piss on him, directly on him, while maintaining intense eye contact. Hand him one paper towel and then ask if he needs another.
I was a swing manager at McDonald's. I can assure you I did not care even remotely enough to see things in those kinds of terms.
They do this with ketchup too. I was just at the Wendy's drive-thru and I says, "may I have some extra ketchup?" She throws 3 packets in. When I pull over those are the only 3 packets in my bag. She was going to dry dick me!
OMG! This happened to me the other day but with napkins. How are you gonna give ZERO napkins in the first place?
Maybe the employees are just tired of getting bitched at for handing out too much sauce.
#tendies
If you ask for extra sauce while ordering at the drive through, they forget it more than half the time I swear.
Hell they forget the sauce they're supposed to give you with your order in the first place!
Ain't nothing sadder than having all dem nuggets and no sauce :(
You learn to enjoy it :(
This is the saddest comment thread I've read today :(
I went Drake mode reading his comment.
Am I the only one who doesn't mind nuggets without sauce?
yes...
No, you're not. I prefer BBQ or sweet and sour, but they're not bad plain. In fact, plain is much better than the nasty shit McDonald's calls honey mustard.
I worked at McDonald's, and a lot of time people working in the back window taking your money also take orders a lot of time. If you're gonna ask for something extra, go to the first Drive thru if they have 2. Most of the time Beep 1 is in the front and Beep 2 is in the back. You're gonna scream at me if I ring up the extra ketchup because it shows "+30" on the screen , so usually it's just screamed from the back of the house. :/
All the places around here only use the one window. Actually when it comes to sauces, Burger Kings tend to fuck it up for me way more often that McDonalds. Literally 75% of the time they don't give me the extra zesty sauce
Step it up BK!
Oh god I hate BK anyways. Threw them chicken nugget out the Window one by one.
Here's the actual amount of sauces you get for each size nuggets (local prices included):
4-piece: 1 sauce ($1.00)
6-piece: 1 sauce ($3.39)
10-piece: 2 sauces ($4.49)
20-piece: 3 sauces ($5.00)
40-piece: 6 sauces ($10.00)
50-piece: 10 sauces ($20.00)
I personally think it should be 1 sauce for every 5 nuggets and just round to the nearest multiple of 5 to determine how many sauces to give out. (4 nuggets= 1 sauce/ 6 nuggets= 1 sauce/ 10 nuggets= 2 sauces/ 20 nuggets= 4 sauces/ 40 nuggets= 8 sauces/ 50 nuggets= 10 sauces). A minor tweak, but a necessary one.
And if you get caught giving out extra sauce, you get a lecture by your manager about the cost of the products. But I always try to make the customer happy rather than say "I'm sorry, but it's $0.10 for any additional sauces"
I can buy three 4-piece for less than the cost of one 6-piece? Are they on drugs?
That's weird local pricing. I guess it's in an urban area or out West somewhere--but then they have to honor the nationally advertised prices for the 20pc, etc. I know here in SC I'm always seeing commercials for $1.99 10pc, $4.99 20pc. So it's still slightly wonky in that you can just buy 2 10pc, save $1 and get an extra sauce out of it.
Whataburger does this with their ketchup!
Dunno where the fuck your at but here they walk around with a tray full of stuff and if you ask for ranch they give you a goddamn salad dressing sized tub of it.
That's definitely true. The ketchup is given like one at a time though and I require a minimum of 2
Is this still valid?
"McHack I learned while working there a while back: 4 piece McNugget = $1 6 piece McNugget = $2.49 (but... 4 piece times 2 equals....) 10 piece McNugget = $3.39 20 piece McNugget = $6.69 And then our sauce policy: 4 piece McNugget = 1 Sauce 6 piece McNugget = 1 Sauce 10 piece McNugget = 2 Sauce 20 piece McNugget = 3 Sauce Additionally, policy was to give one extra sauce beyond the standard upon request, anything above the extra sauce would be $.10 . Of course, I personally never gave a fuck, and just gave out handfuls if people asked for it. tl;dr- 5 separate 4pc boxes would have saved you $1.69 and gotten you two extra sauces, or potentially more."
I had a dude argue with me over the box while he was taking my order because I ordered two 10 piece nuggets. He kept saying "Are you sure you don't want a 20-piece, it would be cheaper." This went on for too long, and I wanted to tell him to give me what the fuck I ordered so I could get 4 sauces instead of 3 without asking for extra sauce. However I'm super white so I was really polite about the whole experience and we parted ways.
Nope no longer valid
4 piece - $1.99 10 piece - $4.49 20 piece - $5.00
So it is a lot cheaper to get a 20 piece plus extra sauce.
I feel like a fucking McDonalds scientist reading all of this. This is knowledge.

Directly plagiarized.
Sounds like Subway and pickles. Like, pickles are dirt cheap and you wanna charge me $1 for extra? A jar is like $2!
dippin for imagination and false hope
outstanding
Who is this MC Donald?
Somewhat related: at every pizza place I've ever worked (2) the managers all taught the employees to skimp on the cheese.
I worked at a pizza place for 2 and a half years. It almost never failed that every single time the owner would come in (at least once or twice a week) he'd bitch at us about putting too much cheese on the pizzas. If there was any more than the absolute minimum amount required to cover a pizza, you'd hear about it. We'd get complaints from customers about how the pizzas needed more cheese but it didn't matter.
20 piece should come with 4 cups of sauce, but we always give you more (for free) if asked.
Im actually hungry. Thanks r/blackpeopletwitter for telling me what to get for breakfast
restocking the sauces under the counter is a bitch, and they won't let you do it until your shift is over and someone else is on the register you just left. So by the time you close out, turn in your register and handle money, then restock the sauces with Laqueefah's ass in your face, your pushing 20+ minutes of unpaid labor after your shift is over and you wanna go home because you just dealt with grumpy bubba's and ebonic speaking thugs for the past 8 hours.
Here's the trick: Wait until after you pay to ask for the sauce. Those cashiers don't want do another transaction for a 25cent sauce, they'll just give it to you.
Worked at McDonald's, can confirm. However don't be that guy who asks for 10 sauces for his 10 nuggets.
I do this at Chic-fil-a because all their sauces are so good! Don't make me pick just 1.
My Chic-fil-a has all the sauces sitting out by the drink machines. I take as many as I fucking want.
At my Chic-fil-a, they'll come up to your table and ask if you need any more sauces or a refill. The service is really outstanding for a fast food place.
Popeye's employees seem to have their feelings hurt when I say I don't need sauce (I like my chicken plain, I don't know). When I get home the bag is always full of BBQ and ketchup, and I mean like 5 packets of each. Sometimes I feel like there's a guy in the back making it and I'm killing his confidence by declining sauce. I know that's not true but that's my fast food head canon.
Gangsta.
Have you ever had their honey barbecue sauce? I get them for my sandwiches and then take some home to put on other shit at home.
I wish I lived in an area that had those :(
Even if you did, you'd only crave it on Sundays when they're closed.
Buffalo and Polynesian.
You gotta grab some chik fil a sauce
Honey Roasted BBQ
Mix buttermilk ranch and texas heat.
I always ask for multiple flavors with my order/when they ask if I'd like sauce. Never been denied or charged! Try it maybe?
They look at me like I'm crazy when I ask for "one of each!"
"Uh, sir, we've got 8 kinds of sauce and you got 4 chicken tenders."
I could probably drink a cup of their honey roasted barbecue sauce. This kind http://media.chick-fil-a.com/Media/Img/catalog/Food/XLarge/Honey-BBQ-Sauce.png
I've forever a Polynesian sauce fan and somehow the fact that there is an actual Chic-fil-a sauce has eluded me for almost 33 years. Polynesian for my fries and Chic-fil-a for my nuggets is the way to go. They tend to keep both of those behind the counter at my local store, but they will give you as many as you want.
Me: "Give me as many sauces as you can without getting in trouble"
I've never been charged for sauce at Chick-fil-a. They know their chicken is badass enough that they aren't losing any money.
what the fuck do you care?
Fuck this. I ask for specifically "let me get like 8 packets of ketchup" and once i get 6, i go back up and talk to another employee and ask for the same amount.
If you're not in the hood they will give it to you for free!
Live in London. Have to pay for sauce.
I'm not in the hood. They don't give it to me for free.
I live in London, never paid for sauce.
Yeah, this was only recent.
I live in a middle class area, our McDonald's has a a notice on the drive thru stating their sauce policy (2 sauces for 20 piece, one for anything else). It is absolutely ridiculous.
Middle class Mogadishu!?
You have to pay for sauce? We have free unlimited sauce for Malaysian McD.
Even barbecue sauce?
No barbecue sauce for us.
I'd rather die.
Then that's the cost.
Haha.
They have ketchup dispensers, but we don't have honey mustard, sweet and sour, or barbecue sauce dispensers.
Ketchup doesn't count. That shit is unlimited.
Yes, but you do not go to a franchise owned by a penny pinching jackass.
[deleted]
What?
Can't understand shit, use some correct punctuation damn.
Inside, most places do that, but in America this isn't fact. I'd guess 75% at least of fast food sales are done in a drive through. Therefore it is left up to the person working drive through to decide how much sauce you're gonna need for your lunch. It's a bullshit system.
I was in the airport, LAX, maybe, and I ordered curly fries at Carl's Jr. and after I paid realized I wanted honey mustard. They did a separate transaction for the honey mustard.
That's at an airport, those sauces were also 50 dollars a piece
Wait... sauce costs extra in the US?
Only in poorer neighborhoods really.
I had a friend who's mom was a former VP for McDonald's. She told me franchises chose on their own whether or not to charge, but when it was corporate they had a formula based on expected damages per a year to the location. Basically if the bathroom has graffiti, people are stealing napkins and stuff, and people are trying to take more sauce than they need for use with non-McDonalds food, they start charging for the sauce.
If the location is in a clean wealthy area, people don't damage the property. People are usually not trying to take advantage of free sauce and so they don't have to charge for it. Although you usually have to ask the cashier for the exotic sauces, and they are told not to be liberal with it.
All but the worst locations usually have free sauce you can squirt into "for here" little paper cups like that, and almost all of them have free ketchup and mustard. Only the really high traffic McDonald's that are also in nice areas (almost unheard of) offer the exotic sauces (honey mustard, bbq, ranch etc) for free without having to ask the cashier.
Also from a worker's standpoint part of the reason they tend to be stingy is not only that they are told not to give more than the customer needs, but also people are lazy and don't want to restock as often.
In London BBQ/Ketchup are on tap in every location I've ever been in.
In the US it's usually only Ketchup that is available in the dispenser.
"Oh darn, I have to replace this box with this other box. Too much work, I must never let them get more than one BBQ sawce."
at the one i worked at the replacement boxes were downstairs and we had to load the sauce box with our hands and the BBQ sauce cup corners can cut your hands if you carry a bunch of them, so it really did suck... on top of having to do everything else usually, depending on the shift
They are usually paid pretty close to minimum wage and encouraged not to give away more than the bare minimum customers need. With those factors at play, a little additional laziness goes a long way. Why would you make extra work for yourself doing something you shouldn't be doing anyways? Especially when that box tends to be in the back, you have a cheap ass boss who will scold you for giving away too much, and you might even run out completely.
If you want extra sauce, always ask for a specific number. That's what I do at In'n'out with "secret sauce" or "spread" or whatever they are calling their Thousand Island sauce now. Although that said I have found they still tend to give me one less packet than whatever I ask for.
When I worked there, we'd give em free sauce at the counter (if they were inside). If they were at the drive thru, though, there really wasn't a way around charging em; they want extra sauce, you tell the machine to add extra sauce to the order. But the machine is also gonna add an extra charge, just like it says it will on the sign you ordered from ("Extra sauce packets are available for 10¢ each."), which people didn't seem to get.
I've never been charged but then I'm white and in a nice suburb
Very rarely. And when it does happen, sometimes they only charge you for extra sauce.
It's supposed to but it's bullshit and rarely enforced. Only for the people who want an obscene number of sauces for a small amount of food.
It's more than just bullshit. It's a way to offset costs in bad areas. Steal stuff from the location vandalize the location they need to charge for more than a few sauces and possibly up the prices a few cents.
Not to mention poor people and assholes taking all the sauce they can to use on non McDonald's food at home.
Yeah, have definitely seen customers do that. I also see your point about offsetting costs; the McDonald's coworker at was not in a bad area, so I have no insight there.
Damn In my area extra sauce means like 5 of each dipping sauce. Taco Bell usually gives enough salsa so that it weighs as much as the food. Churches chicken is stingy with that hot sauce though.
Unless you're an asshole. Then I'm charging your ass 27cents
It may just be where I live or the fact I have mcdonalds once or twice a year but we have tray type things filled with sauce packets and each type and you can just grab a handful
And here I sit thinking that they were free this whole time.
Not always.
Source- have been asked to pay and do a second transaction. It came out to like 32 cents or something. It just irked me bc I had to break a dollar bill and get a wad of change back.
They do it in Asia
This trick doesn't work at Zaxby's. Those motherfuckers have no sympathy for your dry chicken.
