I didn't know Christianity had a flag.
What else would you carry while marching and singing "Onward christian soldiers"?
Having attended Christian schools growing up, we pledged allegiance to the American flag, the Christian flag, and the Bible itself every day in chapel.
Same here. I don't remember the Christian flag or bible pledges anymore. Come to think of it, I think I may have just started mumbling/mouthing the words because I either couldn't remember or care.
In elementary school we pledged allegiance to all three every day. So much indoctrination.
I completely forgot that this flag existed until now. Back in school, we used to have to say a separate pledge to it. In retrospect, it was kind of strange.
Haven't said that pledge in over 20 years, I think I still remember it.
I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag, and to the savior for whose kingdom it stands. One savior, crucified, risen, and coming again, with life and liberty for all who believe.
Incredibly weird in retrospect.
And don't forget the Bible!
I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God's Holy Word. I will make it a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. I will hide its words in my heart that I might not sin against God.
Man. I had to have been about 9 years old since the last time I said either of those pledges. I couldn't have told you a single word of those pledges outside the first few before they were posted here.
You forget a lot of unimportant things in 16 things I guess.
That's it! They made everyone at our school say it, including kindergarteners.
We said that in our really conservative Baptist church in NC growing up.
Maybe its a southern Baptist thing, I live in Kansas City now and I don't see Christian flags anywhere on churches.
The south has some weird thing for alt flags...
Ours was different
I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag and to the savior for whose kingdom it stands. One brotherhood, uniting all Christians, in service and in love
I remember this one from AWANAS I think
speaking of which, I just remembered we had to pledge allegiance to an AWANA flag as well. that's creepy as fuck
Imagine going from a public to Christian school and sitting back down after the normal pledge, but everyone's still standing and looking at you like you're the weird one. That was a truly bizarre and alien feeling at the time. Eeeesh, there was even one for the Bible, we did three friggin' pledges.
They wanted to make sure there wasn't any of you left inside. Had to be good and filled with empty fanaticism.
I'm going to be honest. The formatting for the article was really crappy on my phone. But yeah, it makes sense that they'd pledge allegiance to faith over the flag. I'm guessing the article had something more surprising than that?
They said it was in response to the decision to legalize gay marriage.
Basically a statement of placing their god above national decision making I guess.
Ahh, ok. Hm. I guess I just wonder why it took gay marriage being legalized rather than things like American consumerism and such.
Oh I am sure there will be more displays like this. I just took a trip back home to NC and that was one of the first things my dad complained about.
I can't believe two men can now fuck each other in the ass legally
Yea I know, that was never the legality in question, but that is a direct quote, swear to god.
It wasn't so long ago that gay sex was entirely illegal in some states.
Your dad sounds like a total asshole, btw. I hope you don't speak with him.

I mean, it is "One nation under God," right?
I wish the government would march in and burn the town to the ground. After all, that's how god handles opposition.
:O
We need some good ol' fashioned smiting up in this shit. /s
What does this flag look like? Does it have the decomposing corpse of the Magic Jeebus Man becoming a zombie? Christians are the most retarded subhumans in history.
I have to agree, if we killed them all the world would in fact, be a better place.
I think we treat the flag with way too much reverence. I don't really have a problem with saying "I place another loyalty higher than my nationalism."
That's true, that isn't really what I have a problem with.
There's an article in the US Code that forbids this:
Then there's the issue of the church stating et nauseam that the US is a Christian nation. So by their logic, the American Flag is a Christian flag? So now that gay marriage is legal are we finally free from being a Christian nation?
Oh no wait, this is just another pathetic and desperate cry for attention, a flailing attempt at giving purpose or value to a meaningless institution.
Although the flag code is part of U.S. law, it's not enforced.
I didn't know that was a federal law. I couldn't care less if they are violating it.
What issue? They are allowed to say that.
It just gets annoying because of the way they act like this country belongs to them and nobody else.
Right, its their Christian country, its a nation under god, but yet we need a Christian flag above the Christian American Flag.
I feel like they are pretty much Eric Cartman level in maturity right now, just slinging their dicks around at us for effect.

Dammit, at this rate I'll never become a grammar Nazi (I'm still in the Hither Youth stage).
They are allowed to say it, but its stupid to have a Christian flag in your Christian nation that is different than the National Flag and then go out of your way to double stack your More Christian Flag over the Christian American Flag. Like jesus fucking christ, we get it, you are terrible at logic and butthurt at literally any kind of human right that is not sanctioned by sky god.
Not trying to offend you, I am more of a anti-Christian in addition to an exChristian, I literally despise them and would burn their buildings to the ground, but that's just me. #BornThisWay
Texas v Johnson established that the flag code has no power whatsoever - destroying, burning, or insulting the flag are all forms of free speech.
It's not so much the issue of disrespecting the American flag specifically, I could really care less even as a decent patriot.
It's more about the Christians, once again, feeling like they need some special consideration and treatment because sky god.
I didn't expect so much pushback from this sub, really wish we had an r/anti-christianity now.
My problem is that they're tax exempt organizations. If you don't have to pay taxes, then follow the fucking government regulations.
Or just stop fucking with government regulations entirely, one way or the other.
The Christian mentality that makes them want their dick in everything at once is getting a little old.
What would you say about those who are refusing marriage licenses to gay couples based on this same belief? (Honest question, not trying to get sassy with you.)
They should be fired for incompetence since they are unable to perform their job.
