I remembered what Rajhin had said, merely a day ago: those without a corporeal form have certain perks that those with bodies do not.
Apparently, one of these perks is invisibility. I wandered Solitude, unimpeded by guards or citizens, but without purpose as my mission was now at an impasse. I supposed that I should still learn what I could about this land and about Rajhin himself, in case I could wrest my body from him by some miracle. But without a body to interrogate villagers with in the meantime, I would have to get much more creative with my resources.
Books were my only option. It was thought that Sloads could not read or write, but these rumors were invented by the same landwalkers who had thought Tamriel belonged to them by default. Although my Cyrodiilic is a bit rusty, and interacting with objects required sizable concentration in my current condition, I could comprehend books with relative ease.
In the Bards’ College, I found several ridiculous novels that supposedly entertained the Nords. There were very few volumes that provided fruitful information, but I managed to scrounge up a book involving Rajhin. It included something about a robe called Rajhin’s Mantle, which was linked with Rajhin’s own spirit. It was said that anyone who wore the Mantle would be overtaken by Rajhin’s consciousness, just like how he had seized my own body. The Mantle was purported to have been destroyed, though I hesitate to believe an item bound to an immortal’s spirit could stay as such.
If the robe Rajhin had tricked me into putting on was indeed Rajhin’s Mantle, there must be a way to separate his spirit from the artifact. Of course, it would take much more than a simple spell to remove and trap a shadow of Rajhin. A powerful relic would be required to act as a vessel, not to mention equally strong magic to perform the transfer. Then there is the matter of tricking Rajhin the Trickster God into a trap.
All this, without a body. But I do not have time to mope; there is work to be done.
