Can't stay hydrated! Anyone else?

So this is my third pregnancy, but the first time I have been really pregnant in the summer. Despite drinking water all day long, I am still constantly thirsty and my pee is the color of mustard. Thinking of switching to coconut water or something (but I hate paying for it).

Water, while delicious, makes me nauseous. I'm constantly dehydrated, buy drink whatever I can and know the ER is there for me when I can't keep it down.

Also, fancier waters taste better and I feel are more hydrating. The crappy bodrga water just makes me feel thirsty more.

The color of my pee varies widely but omg yes! It's like there's not enough water in the world. I start panic when my bottle is 2/3 finished. I've never been a big water drinker so this is an entirely new phenomenon for me.

I already tested for a UTI and was negative... But I drink probably about 3/4 32oz nalgenes a day. My pee slowly turns color throughout the day but yes... I agree, I feel like I'm always thirsty.

Do you drink 3-4 bottles a day or just 3/4? Because I don't think that's quite enough! I did the calculations and based on my weight I need 2 liters of water a day (2 Nalgene bottles) and that's not even accounting for pregnancy! I try to drink one Nalgene at work and a couple more glasses of water when I get home.

Lol 3-4 bottles a day :)

Edit: I'm on my third right now. I go to the bathroom probably every hour.

Oh yeah, I got yelled at from some people saying I drink too much water and I'm going to literally drown myself. I did double check with my doc but was told as long as I'm still peeing then it's fine. Also as long as I don't drink 80oz at one time I'll be okay. It was quite a relief lol

And I'm still going to enjoy my 120oz + of water per day despite the 'warnings'.

I'm thirsty, all the time. I can't get enough liquid in, even with tons of fruit. I feel you!

I am in the same boat. All damn day I have this nagging feeling of being super thirsty. I couldn't tell you how many ounces I consume, and the feeling never goes away. FWIW I am super healthy, no GD, and no complications.

I got the gatorade powder so I can add a bit to my water for flavour and a bit of salts and sugars without going full-on gatorade, which I find too sweet. Also, cheaper.

I down 16-32 oz of water AN HOUR right now. I live in a city with a lot of old houses, which means no central air. I go through so much ice in a day that my poor freezer can't keep up with me.

Yeah, with 80% humidity our window AC just can't keep up, and I am sweating buckets just sitting on my couch.

Ok it's not just me. I was starting to get worried because I feel thirsty all the time and my mouth is always dry. I already passed the GD test and was thinking I might need to redo it or that I could have developed GD after the test. Drinking water as I type this.

Wonder if you might have a UTI? Personally I would track how many ounces I was drinking in a day, then call my OBs office to ask if it was a concern.

andrearbOPEDD 09/28/15 #3•

Hmmm. Hadn't thought of that, since my experiences with UTI have also included painful peeing. I had an OB appointment yesterday, which included a urine sample. I think I am just sweating it out, actually. Our window ACs are just not cutting it!

Do you eat lots of produce? I find that I'm rarely thirsty and my urine is fine, despite the fact that I rarely drink more than 3-4 eight-ounce glasses of water a day. I think it has to do with the fact I eat a lot of fruits and veggies, which are water-dense.

Totally taking advantage of stone fruit season - my favorite season!

Great! I definitely recommend eating lots and lots of produce. It makes staying hydrated way easier. Just yesterday I ate about 15 bing cherries, 1 peach, a cup of cubed watermelon, some lettuce I had on a sandwich, and half a cucumber (sliced, of course)! Between that and the two cans of seltzer, glass of water, cup of tea, and iced latte, I was apparently very hydrated.

I totally would not judge you for eating a cucumber unsliced!

I feel like it would look kind of... funny... hahaha.

Hmmm. Definitely shouldn't be so dark. I would definitely ask your OB. How much is constantly? I drink about 5 water bottles a day among over liquids and mine is very light.

I'd stick with water or whatever beverage you prefer, no need to spend extra $$ on coconut water unless you just cannot drink another ounce of the plain stuff. Also, keep in mind that prenatals can alter the color of your urine due to the excess vitamins.

How many ounces do you think you're getting each day? My personal goal is half of my body weight in ounces but that's hard to do when you're peeing every 6 minutes!

I went to the ER when I was puking blood, I think around 15 weeks... anyways, the triage nurse lectured me on the importance of staying hydrated and said, "if it helps you, think of it this way: you know those little dose cups that come on medicine bottles? You need one of those full of water every hour to stay hydrated. That's it." So that's certainly not a lot at all. I just personally will drink like 5 bottles of water in one sitting and then go a long time without anything else.

Have you measured how much you are drinking? measure the glasses that you've been drinking and add them up, then get one of those large containers with the amounts on them and see how much you are drinking from that. And call your doc! Could be signs of an issue that hasn't presented symptoms yet.

I second the Gatorade powder. I've been having tons of contractions and even with 4 32 oz bottles of water, they keep coming. But if I drink a 32oz water bottle with Gatorade, they calm down. And my pee is clear/almost clear.

Totally the same problem. I live in the desert and I drink huge amounts of water, pee clear, go to bed and BAM.... wake up and have to rehydrate all over again. It's really an endless battle. We're almost done though!!!!

Yep and it's causing protein to appear in my urine. So if course I got the pointy wavy finger from the MFM. supposedly we are meant to drink 6 16oz glasses of water a day. I can't seem to stay hydrated and not wanting to pass out
