Am I crazy to think next year is Superbowl or bust?

Have I drank too much koolaid? Because after this season, I think that is a truly attainable goal and that without getting to the Superbowl the season was not a success? Maybe I'm setting the bar to high, I don't know. But with the right moves and our upcoming schedule, I'm hoping for a 13 win season. SKOL boys

Not "Superbowl or bust".

"Superbowl would be incredible, but any forward progress is great. We have a young team with a relatively large window to make the Super Bowl." is more accurate.

I think a playoff win is a successful season. NFCCG wouldn't really be exceeding expectations by that much.

No, we have a huge window with our core players and Zimmer

Or bust?

No, but if we made to nfc championship game I wouldn't be surprised. Superbowl or bust is a couple seasons away when we have to pay a ton of young talent

I'm telling ya, we make either the divisional or NFC Championship next year, then 2017-2018 is our season. That's right, we'll be the first team to ever play in their home stadium for the superbowl. RemindMe! 2 years.

So wait, we could win the superbowl as an away team in our home stadium?

Yea how would this work? I could definitely see the Vikings getting the short end of the stick on this and being the "away" team in their home stadium. Just seems... bound to happen.

As long as we are wearing purple pants, home or away I don't care.

You'd have to think the stadium would be dominated by Vikings fans no matter our designation of home or away, and it's the fans and familiarity with the stadium that creates home field advantage. The only thing that would worry me is if they're forced to be on the opposite sideline and it has some sort of psychological effect on them. It sounds minor but psychology is really important in sports.

I'd like to think it would be mostly our fans, but the majority of people at the superbowl are the rich and famous, media, or national fans who are doing a once in a lifetime trip. I don't think there would be an overwhelming contingent of regular, die hards Vikings fans there.

Although, if this scenario played out, it's our first superbowl in 40 years, we're in the brand new stadium, and we're playing some typical AFC team like the Patriots, Steelers, etc, then I think the majority of the fans would be pulling for us. So there's that.

This is the correct answer. The realistic expectation next year is division winner, contend for a first round bye, then win a game or two and hopefully make the NFC championship. Beyond that is gravy. Goal being to get the team some playoff seasoning for a real SB run in the 2017-2018 year.

"Superbowl or bust" means it all gets torn down if we fail. This team has a young, growing core. If it doesn't win the superbowl, all is not lost.

2009 was bowl or bust.

We have the opposite of SB or bust mentality. We have methodically built a team from the draft. We have a young team, not a bunch od former greats at the end of their careers. We actually have a a 3 or 4 year wind to be great at the least.

frannyslap•

When you say super bowl or bust I feel as if you are implying that if we do not win the super bowl next year that the team does not have the ability to win with its current roster and a rebuild or overhaul of the roster/coaching staff is in order. I do not share this same line of thinking. Winning the super bowl should be the hope but never the expectation. Especially as a Vikings fan

I'm thinking a deep playoff run. Many people forget that almost all of the key guys on this team have actually never played in the NFL playoffs until now. There's nothing sad about this season except for the way it ended, but the new guys on defense put confidence in me that the championship caliber defense is there and ready.

If we get to the NFC championship game, its a good season.

"Super Bowl or Bust" has a difference meaning than a chance to win the super bowl.

Playoff win or bust should be the mentality.
